I'm selling my 1989 Yamaha TDR 250, it has had a ground-up rebuild over the last 2 years. The frame, side stand and fairing frame have been powder coated.
The front end has been replaced with one from a SZR660 including Paoli forks, Brembo brakes (caliper, disc, master cylinder) with tapered head bearings. Handlebar risers and Renthal bars fitted along with a Hel brake line and new pads.
The rear swing arm is from a TZR250 with a FZR250 3.5" rear wheel. Both wheels have been powder coated and had new wheel bearings. Rear caliper rebuilt with stainless pistons and a seal kit fitted to the master cylinder.
Rear shock absorber checked and the spring powder coated. Suspension linkage rebuilt with new bearings, seals and collars.
All chassis brackets repainted and stainless fasteners used throughout.
Carbs were ultrasonically cleaned and internals replaced, fuel tap re built.
The previous owner had the engine professionally rebuilt, I have no receipt for this although I believe it to be true. I removed the top end of the engine and all was perfect, i rebuilt it with genuine Yamaha gaskets. The power valve seals and bushes were replaced along with new power valve cables.
The bodywork and tank were repainted by Cordwells Motorcycle Paint with new decals lacquered in. (Cost £700)
The bike looks and rides great, all that needed doing was done/replaced.
I have spent over £3500 on the bike and it has numerous new parts
New chain and sprockets, battery, air filter, clear oil line kit, brake pads, coil. The bike has 12 months MOT and Tax
I've decided to sell it as I have no time to ride it and don't want to just leave it in the garage not being used, I've really enjoyed rebuilding the bike and now it's done it needs to be ridden.
Feel free to ask any questions.
£2800

Hi Nick
Your TDR looks great
Would you mind telling me how easy the SZR660 front end was to fit please
Also did the TZR arm go straight in to the frame?
I would love to buy it but unfortunately its over my budget! Im gonna have to start with a ropey TDR and restore it as-and-when,although im not sure thats the best way!

Regards

Chris

Chris,
The front end goes straight in as long as you fit tapered head bearings, the lock-stops have to be added as they're in a different place ( I made some and mounted them so it's easy to do). Apart from that a pair of bar risers need to be added to the top yoke and a longer brake line if using the SZR brakes.
The rear end goes straight in, no mods required. It's slightly longer though so a new chain needs fitting. It's surprising how much you spend when restoring the bike, don't count it up at the end because it's depressing !

Nick
