Worried about my sprag!

Hi, I might be being paranoid while I get used to the bike and it's habits etc.
But this morning, when I got her out, I set the choke, prodded the starter button and she fired up OK sat idling for a few seconds, then it sounded like it wanted to stall from 2k odd rpm!
At the same time as it hesitated there was that noise of when the starter gear takes - if you know what I mean.
While I think about it, the other day when I fired it after work, I didn't have the choke on so much so it was on a lower fast idle but it made that noise and did stall!
Is this anything to do with the sprag? or could it be something else to do with the starter?
Bloody thing does make me nervous still, but I blame the bad biking press in the past!
Bike has done 10k only, but my bro had to have the sprag done on his 1000R on a lower mileage, although I have heard this can be due to people starting the bike with throttle and the revs getting up before the sprag has dis-engaged properly?

Doesnt sound like the sprag, if you hear a horrible metal crunching noise on starting then worry about sprag and bank balance :thumbup
Just make sure your bike is always on an optimate and you will be fine.
Dont know what the problem is though sorry :thumbup

Actually, I feel a bit better, went out for a spin at lunchtime and it didn't do it, I think it is just getting used to how much choke to give it. The sprag noise happened the time it stalled and is the same noise as when it all dis-engages or whatever when you turn the engine off.
It engages and starts fine with the new 14BS battery...

I've just put in a 14BS battery, am fitting the Yam starter solenoid next week and the bike is always on an Optimate. You can never be too sure!!
