Hi all on the forum. I have been thinking about fitting an Ohlins rear shock to my 05 Tuono which is the grey standard one but am finding it difficult to find a part no. I can trust and some people seem to be fitting shocks which need a mod to fit presumably because they came off a factory model or something else. Can anyone shed some light on this as even looking for on on fleabay is awkward if you are not sure what will fit.
P.S. the ohlins site doesn't even list one for my bike.
Cheers Tuonoites.

Yes,yer best bet is an Ohlins shock from a Factory or Racing model.(2003-2005)No mods required, just bolt it straight on.Aprilia part no.8123973.Shocks from the Gen2 Factory have a different stroke,so they are not recommended for the Gen1.
Whats wrong with the standard shock?I thought the Gen1 Sach was pretty good?

They are good as standard Keith, it's just that mine came at a stupidly low price I couldn't say no

I have been thinking about getting a superduke KTM but as I have failed to sell my Tuono twice now I felt that modding would be better than selling it for nothing and a better rear shock is a must really. I looked at a hyper pro which is built to your weight and Ohlins as their reputation is fairly well established. If I could sell mine I could buy a factory Tuono or a superduke or even a Ducati s4rs at a push but mine did not sell and I saw a similar mileage model go for £1900 not long ago and I wanted £3300 for mine so there's the rub.

I wanted £3300 for mine 12 months ago, never had a sniff after 2 four week stints in MCN, ended up p[art chopping for the New T got 3K part ex.

I have been riding Tuonos for 5 years, nothing else does it for me, so I just keep modding it. My mate has a Superduke and its wicked, but I have what I want already. Aprilias get such a dissapointing price second hand, but that is good for buyers!

Thanks for all the replies, I now have an Ohlins rear shock thanks to Brummymax. And will be fitting it next week. TaTa.
BTW isn't it nice that the sun has decided to grace us with its presence .
