Well that's it I've SORN the RSV plastered it in ACF 50, waxed it, put it on paddock stands and covered it till next next years warmer weather. I noticed that when I started it to give it a run it rattled quite badly for a few seconds then almost stopped but there was still a little rattle. I hadn't started her up for about 2 months so would this be the oil has just had it? I'm a bit concerned about starting her up next year to warm her up to drain the oil and change it. But the engine has to be warm to drain it??

engine will rattle a bit if its not been started for 8 weeks etc

the rotax isn't the quietest lump out there and more rattles than say a jap il4

you can drain oil when cold if you wish as not a problem.

warm draining is quicker and better but if you drain cold on the sidestand and use the lower drain plug (which some forget) it will be ok.

full tank of fuel is a good thing on long storage as keeps condensation to a minimum.

Put some fuel stabilizer in aswell cos if your not starting it regularly unleaded will go stale quick and start gumming things up.......get a batt conditioner too..........
If you havn't started the bike for months all the oil drains from the cams & top end etc. resulting in a rattle when you start............its not dertrimental as the oil pump will circulate it pretty quick but that first few seconds is you hear ticking knocking is unlubricated surfaces grinding etc.
only other option is to keep choke off and and wind it over on 5 second bursts for a while to get the oil circulated...............
