Will an ohlins rear shock off lets say a 2008 rsv fit an 2001 without modification? do I need linkages etc or do I need not bother? :dunno
i think they are almost the same the shocks are a little longer
cheesey has got a 04+ shock in his rsv so hopefully he will add to this

yep i got one fitted to mine,
went to italy & back, ireland & back all fine
And done few more k's since & all good
bolts into the top mount fine
bottom eyelet you can space out on the shock
i had to put a shim either side of eyelet for perfection
runs on max ride height and used with 03 dogbone & linkages
works well for me
Damping is different to ohlins for an 02
when i get time i will try a set of dog bones & linkages off the later bike to see
