Wierd black box

Changed the battery last night on rsv
Clipped on top of battery is a little black
Box two wires coming out of it
It rattles so opened it up and inside
Is a brass ring over a u shaped brass bar
With nylon in the centre where ring sits

WHAT IS IT ?????

Tip over sensor cuts the engine if you drop it should slide into plastic mount on back of battery stay
