Afternoon all,

Bought this 04 RSVR and was really happy, until I decided that the stupid great Stomp grips each side of the tank just had to go.
Had the hairdryer on them for ages, peeled away nicely but they left a sticky residue behind. No problem, I thought, a bit of white spirit will have that away and I'll just polish the tank and all will be good.

Well, ever started something you wish you hadn't?!
Now it turns out the stuff they glue them on with is quite literally the stickiest substance known to man. I've tried everything I can think of and still it won't shift, so if anyone's got any ideas or advice on how to get this stuff off it'll be massively appreciated.

What I've tried so far:

White spirit,
Baby wipes,
Magic eraser sponge (less than useless),
Several kinds of nail varnish remover (good job er indoors is at work!),
Cillit bang degreaser,
Brake cleaner,
WD40,
Shell super unleaded (!!!)

Please help me, I'm getting pretty hacked off with it!!

Halfords do it, or you can order from ebay/amazon, smells nice too...

Thanks mate. Bike smells really nice already - all that baby oil and nail varnish remover!!

Why did you take them off? Stompgrip is brilliant stuff. I wouldn't be without it since putting it on my old 10R, then my R1, and I've yet to put it on the RSV but its at home waiting to be done!

Took them off cos they look awful - why ruin a beautiful fuel tank with big stupid bits of plastic.
I've never felt the need for them, or anything like them, on any bike I've owned. Obviously it's a personal choice but they're just not for me.
