As the title says. I come from inline four to this great Mille but it does not seem to want to come up.

Tried clutching it in 2nd and nothing. When belting the bike the clutch does nto seem to slip.
any ideas?

lose a tooth off the front sprok(standard first mod), sit back in the seat and she will fly to heaven mate. dont be shy with yer right hand. mine will power up in first three gears, so it must be yer gearing?
cheers Ck

go to 16/44 gearing ..she will power lift no problemo

yup, 16/44 (or equivalent) seems ideal for 02 models. Sometimes you need a 110 link chain which is two more than std. Tho with my recent change to renthal chain(from afam/renthal) the 108 fit(just) Its now got the wheel base of a buell-yeehaaw

nothing matey, the speedo sensor reads from the rear disc. so its unaffected.
PS- the speedo is very accurate too, compared to satnav its usually only 1-2 mph miles out at all speeds.

mebbe a little, it really depends how you ride TBH.
I gearded -down in conjunction with a PC111 and custom map, so that will have ironed out bad fueling.
I never really look at the pump, I just fill her up and fek off!

i,ve recently changed to 16/44 and its a lot easier thru traffic although makes it a bit scary in 1st and 2nd + made no difference to fuel economy (maybe because i can use top gear more) :) but as already mentioned the speedo is accurate, not like my last gsxr reading 10mph over @80mph

yup, easier town riding and better pick up, they are over geared 'out of the box'

power wheelies in first 3 gears if you try hard enough. I havent tried the clutch, I just sit back and pin it and up she comes

I've been thinking abotu the gearing and you are spot on, I knew they were overgeared and now you got me thinking, on my commute the road is a 50 limit and I think I've only been using 4th! - and a few times chasing mates and my Bro on his ZX7 I have found I've only been needing 5th, so dropping the gearing will introduce 6th and for that reason probably won't touch the "economy" - not really a word designed for a 1000cc V-Twin !

Going to order a 16T now....

my 03 mille wheelied off the throttle in 1st and 2nd no probs with the standard set up 17/42 standard chip and standard exhaust. Even easier with the new set up. I came from a Gixxer 1000 and thought it would be harder i was sooo wrong!(a bit scary how easy it lifts at low down revs 3500-4000 in first and 5000-6000 in second) got sore bo***cks and needed a few pant changes until i got used to it!

You want to try riding with my big lump of a son on the back..Can't keep front down in first 2 gears..:confused

Maybe the 99 version was slower or its just mine...... Best get the gearing sorted soon then.
also whats this chip people keep going on about? how expensive is it and what does it do?

Garvey mate, mines a 2000 model and wheelies everywhere!! Off the power in 1st and 2nd no worries, cutch prompted are even easier!! I've gone 16f and 44 rear with PC111 and custom map. You can't help it when gassing it in the 1st two gears now bud!! Get it done, you'll love it!!

any good places to buy the 16/44 setup? pcIII a little out fo my price range at the mo
