Whose is the lightest??

Sensible question about weight this time!

Who out there has actually weighed their RSV's, and who has the lightest?

I keep reading about the featherweight 09 fireblade at 200kg wet, and how you can shave off another 6kg just by putting on race system. 194kg? WOW!

How much does an RSV really weigh, and who has the most cost effective solutions for keeping it road legal(ish) but slimming it down?

Ta!

Mine tips the bathroom scales at 202 kg fully wet.

Taking the handbook-listed quantities of liquids (and their specific mass):
Fuel (18 lit) = 12.6 kg
Engine oil (3.9 lit) = 2.93 kg
Fork oil (1.0) lit = 0.75 kg
Water (2.2 lit) = 2.2 kg

Hence the dry mass of my RSV is 183.53 kg

Alas, by the time one's added one's track-ready 114 kg  to the party, it scuppers an otherwise decent power-to-mass ratio.

Carbon Kids, tips the scales at 175kg wet, that what ya get when ya bikes now carbon fibre :thumbup

Thanks guys, that's really useful info- if not a touch worrying!

BRG, your bike has OZ wheels, probably lighter exhaust (header + silencer), race bodywork and god knows what other weight saving trinkets.

My standard 2003 Mille (not R) must be 15-20kg over that.

Yikes...

I had a 2007 R6 with Micron system, race bodywork and a few other nice bits. It was so light and flickable.

What I want is R6 weight+ handling with RSV engine characteristics.

(All together now: " It's impossible!!")

See I don't see the milles as heavy. They do weigh a bit and when your moving them in the garage etc u can feel it, however once on the track/road they hide the weight well. They handle like any other jap IL4 and in most cases even better.

FWIW, the cans are the OEM (lead-filled?) ones, I'm afraid, due to Castle Combe's stringent noise regs!

The race bodywork is fibreglass - so I suspect there's no saving over the OEM ABS bits. About the only real saving is the removal of the lights!

The trinkets that I have are not there for weight-saving, though he is in Sata's Grotto at the moment for a few more :thumbup

carbon wheels save you over 50% unsprung and they track brilliantly, that and a ti system will lose you loads

i couldn't get mine upstairs to the bathroom scales so i'll just have to guess how heavy it is.

175kg wet??!! That's awesome!

Must be, umm, 35kg lighter than my standard RSV? Very impressive...

Very much doubt I can afford carbon wheels/bodywork etc but good to know there is potential out there.
