whats with the old shape / New shape crap. :confused
i've had both and they were both brilliant but different in character. I don't like the aprilia gold frames but some like it, that's their choice.
Technology moves on and design fashions move with it. There are things like emission laws that the early bikes never had to comply with and have got consistantly tighter since. Engine design has had to tackle that and still raise the bar to keep up with the power hike trend. High peak power and big torque don't often go hand in hand hence the difference between the later bikes and early models in engine character. A pre 04 bike makes bigger torque but less horses and vice versa.
The cosmetics of a bike or anything else are always a personal preference. To criticise a new bike because it's not like the old one is missing the point of a new model completely. :dunno
The 04 rsv was the 3rd biggest selling sportsbike for the 1st 6 months of it's life until Aprilia went bust so it must have had general appeal. The fact it sold poorly since was more an aprilia perception issue than the bike itself.
The Ducati 848/1098 is ducati's fastest selling sportsbike ever yet Ducati purists are saying it looks Japanese. If that's what sells do you expect Ducati or anyone else not to build it in favour of something the purists like but sells poorly ?
Never understood what some people think the manufacturers are in it for. Pay your money and make your choice. There is no such thing as a bad RSV from a design point of view imo.
