new RSV Factory owner.. wondering as I need to replace the tyres.. should I fit the 190 stock or optional 180 wide tyre.
I really want the bike to change direction like a bluebottle.

I am only 10Stone suited and booted if that affects things (less mass for the tyres to take??)

Have you bought a gen 2 now then?

Most people seem to prefer 180 on gen 1 bikes for quicker direction changes but not sure about gen 2

I don't think weight makes a big difference.

Rob :)

Yup, a 53 plate gen2 factory :) I'm only 5'7" and shortlegged so the smaller frame/sizing was a real bonus to me.. oh,. and the akra equivalent pipework, 57mm tb's, radial caliper and levers was a big draw too ;)

I mean it.. I take a Knox Large (510cm) spinal.. at only 5'7". 29" inside leg see. 73cm of leg to get to an 810mm saddle :(

That is long legged for your height...I am 6'0" tall and only have a 30" inside leg... and no problem reaching the ground with both feet on my gen 1.

Rob :)

not at all according to 'averages' at 5'7 i should be 31, and you should be 33!

you must have welsh dwarf genes in you also!

lol Rob, Im sixfoot with a 32inch inside leg !!.
Get a 190/55 matey, bigger contact patch and higher proflie for tipping in
ck

going for partworn BSB Supercorsa's.. so contact patch is less important i'd have thought (ie already more grip than its possible to use)

given that, would you still choose the 190?

No welsh in me, isle of wight/maltese dwarf genes maybe.

When are you going to post some pictures of the new toy then?

Rob :)

she's in for MOT now, if all goes well, i'll pick up later and get some photos on :)

Im with ck here. Went from a 180/55 supercorsa to a 190/55 and much prefer it. When the millie came out, the 55 profile 190 wasnt so common, hence why I believe the 180 became popular (even recommended in the manual).
Now however there is no real benefit of the 180 to the 190 (just dont put a 50 on it!)
PS, I also feel the the slightlt wider wheel tends to pitch more weight on the front when its right on its ear, which I like ;)

PPS. If you you dont use the rear tire to the edge (of a supercorsa) you wont benefit in much other ways from the 190, if however you aim to get off the front, 190 makes sense.

PPPS!! lol, one more thing the BSB`s are road tires, if there are part worn from track use id avoid. I used bsb`s on track (without warmers) and afterwards they never had the same amount of grip back on the road.

Steve out!!
