Which screen, helmet and gloves to go for??????

ive got a smoked MRA screen on my 04 factory.(seem to be quite popular on here!) as for kit, Alpinestars GP Tech gloves, best ive ever owned by far and a shoei james haydon rep (bit old now) looking to replace it with an xr1000 or an Arai Haga rep!

If you are going the alpinestars route for the gloves, make sure you keep them on for a while in the store and open and close your clutch hand, on a bike preferably. Maybe just me, but I found the joined fingers section gave me hand cramp.

Berik and Nankai gloves I'd heartily recommend :thumbup

Different manufacturers have different shell shapes, and some have different shell shapes within their range, so it is imperative as Millemille says that the fit is right for you. A £500 Arai that doesn't fit won't do it's job, and i've yet to come across a Shoei that fits me. So the Arai head Shoei head thing definately goes with my bonce.

Happy shopping. You'll know if you are in a store that wants the helmet to fit you properly rather than selling it, especially with Arai's and Shoei's, as they'll swap cheek pads etc there and then until you are comfortable :thumbup

Interesting, just found this here http://essexbikers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17230

George whites helmets are not imported by Phoenix Distribution, which means they are non UK bound lids and differ slightly then our own ACU certified helmets. If you have an issue with your helmet, or want an impact test after an accident you will have to return it to swindon rather then any Arai 5* dealer to resolve it.

Most dealers who have any sense are doing helmet scrappage schemes to prevent the circulation on helmets, which are unfit to be re-used.

We offer the following amounts on helmets in certain price brakets inc HJC, Arai, Shoei, Schuberth, Nolan etc etc

£200-£299 £50 off
£300-£399 £60 off
£400-£499 £80 off
£500+ £100 off

This unfortunatly doesnt cover any colour schemes we do not stock. Hope this is of some help to you guys

Pompey i can only reiterate what most have said. MRA screens are excellent. I have a light tint MRA and is perfect in tint and style.

As far as gloves are concerned you have to go for what fits you best. Any advice i would give would be to stick to well known brands such as Alpinestars, Spidi, Richa, Dainese etc.... and find out what is the most comfotable and what floats your boat.

Helmets are even more important to get a correct, tight comfortable fit as Millemille has said. You'll need to try lots on. I would always say spend a liittle extra and go for Arai or Shoei as there really is no compromise where safety is concerned however quality cheaper helmets include higher spec HJC, KBC, Shark and X-lite helmets.

These people have some good deals for price comparison

Have a look at www.lidsdirect.co.uk Got an HJC from them, very please with it and great service. I always look to see if a helmet has passed the snell test, not sure it makes any difference but it makes me feel better.

Please make sure if you are going to buy a new lid that you do try before you buy, once a helmet has left the shop if can not be returned unless there is a fault therefor if you get it home and it doesn't fit you will be stuck with it this is the law so be warned if you are buying off the intenet or if your expecting one as a christmas present, don't want to be doom and gloom guys but I don't want anyone to get caught out.:):)
