Team,
I know it's alot for one thread but don't want to swamp the forum:eatcorn

Need some help choosing a new screen. They all look good, especially the MRA but which is the best one to get???

Anyone had any problems or good feedback from their screens?

Also not sure how much difference there is between the smoked and dark tints???

I want to be able to see through it without hinderance when giving the beans with my head buried in the clocks and I will have a tinted/iridium visor.

Another is which helmets have positive reactions. I currently have an AGV which I brought at silverstone some years ago. It is time for change and although it has served me well I do get a pain in my forehead after wearing for a considerale time. I do have a lump (wear my mum dropped me at 6 weeks, no laughing:devious)

Next up Gloves, I like the look of Alpinestars GP Plus and I have heard some good reviews on these.
Dry weather riding only:devious

I'm not a sheep and have my own mind but I do want to know what you all recommend?

Any recommendations most welcome:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup
Cheers:thumbup

I have a smoked MRA screen on my 04, Ive only got the standered one to compare it to but seems pretty decent to me. Ican do 110mph sat bolt upright without it hurting and you can see through it with a tinted visor on aswell quite easily.

Can't really tell you what helmet to go for but i can say that KBC are shat and Arai's are really good for everything but fook theyre expensive. But seriously, KBC are crap!! **** loads of wind noise, ventilation is *****.

That's it, I want to be able to do some long distances at speed as well. I went to visit mother back home (160 miles) and my shoulders and back were fooked when I got there. The MRA are £65 which seems good but I have seen others for as low as £20:eek: with the MRA though I really like the black at the bottom then fading to smoked:devious

Never tried an Arai. I know they are pricey but I'm getting older now (29 in Feb  ) and comfort is a must for me. Going to George whites in a couple of weeks so will try one on then. Definately not KBC then:thumbup Is it true that some helmets are designed for people with wierd shaped heads??? Read a thread once that pointed that way.

Just bought some RST Moto gloves from George Whites and they are the mutts nuts mate. But as said before it's all about personal choice. :thumbup

What did you pay for the gloves if you don't mind me asking? I've got Frank Thomas' at the moment.
I saw your thread on these lids and like the italian design but just a bit dubious as I don't know the brand, not being snobby but I like to know a brand first and make sure it's proven and tested.
Are the lids in production and on sale yet?

Here's the gloves link mate - Click Me about £55 delivered. :thumbup

Those helmets have some great reviews and if they were of dubious origin they wouldn't be allowed to sell them in the UK.

I'm gonna order one after Christmas, just waiting to see if they have a sale. LOL :roll

I hope you bought those gloves in BLUE:confused

Not the Red/Black unless of course they are faster than the blue:thumbup

Mate over the years i have had AGV and Shoei lids.

The AGV was a nice lid and my brothers both have TiTech lids which i have tried and they feel awesome.

My Shoei's were an XR900 and a Z one. Both were amazing and very quiet with the best and easiest visor mechanism on the market. I still use the Z one today occasionally and i have had it for 8 years. The XR900 saved my bonce in a 100mph spill so I can honestly vouch for their safety spec.

I currently have an Arai RX7 Corsair. I was due to change the Shoei because of its age and didn't like any of the Shoei designs at the time. So I plumped for the Arai. Its light and very well made but the fit wasn't great. However, You can replace all of the internal pads for different sizes to obtain a perfect fit. This obviously costs more money on top of a lid that cost £550 in the first place so not happy. The visor is difficult to change and very fiddly. There is a fair bit more wind noise than the Shoei which is due to the side pods on the Arai acting like little wind traps. I love the arai but i preferred my shoei's and when i'm due to change again i will most likely go back to a shoei lid.

Gloves, I have used a pair of alpinestar GP plus for 3 or 4 years now. They are fantastic. They are still A1 and only the suede bits on the thumbs are worn through, the leather is showing no signs of wear at all. I can thoroughly recommend them. The ring and little finger bridging strip takes a bit to get used to at first but it doesn't take long.

Screens wise I'm looking to get a double bubble as well so I wait for all the advice on here before making a decision.

I like those gloves as they look smart and kangaroo leather:thumbup
I like the Berik ones as well...arrrrgh so many choices:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Ermax make good screens

Arai make the best helmets, Ivge got a Viper GT Web

Gloves Alpine stars GP Pro....;;best gloves ive ever had

Is it true that some helmets are designed for people with wierd shaped heads??? Read a thread once that pointed that way.

No mate thats bollox.............i heard the same thing about a "shoei" shaped head and an "Arai" shaped head!!! It's all ***** as they make the helmets for the different continents, so any sold here are for the Euro market!!! Thats where the "different shaped" ***** comes from..............:thumbup

Although a mate of mine always buys his Arais in Hong Kong - and he's a right square head!

I remember one of the rich kids had an all black shoei when we were 16 and it was really comfortable. I'm more than happy to spend a good £500-£600 on a decent lid. Not too worried about the difficulty of changing visors as once it's done it will stay as it is as I' don't go out in **** weather now...she'll dissolve. Decent gloves are a must as my current gloves are wearing alot and the stitching is leaving sore spots on my fingers.

That's good to know as I thought I was a freak

Wear Racer gloves on the road and just bought some for the track - top kit. If I was minted I'd try some Held - either Phantoms or Titans.
Tried on a lot of A-Star gloves when I was on a mission to buy my new track gloves - really like them but I'm just a sucker for Austrian/German build quality so went for the Racers. I'd be interested in trying those new Knox exo-skeleton gloves they showed in one of the mags recently when they come out.

"All helmets whether its £350 or £50 have to go through the same testing the only difference is weight, size of shell and comfort, the most inportant thing is that the helmet is a good fit if not it won't matter how much it cost
Ill fitting helmet =brain damage."
I've worked in the motorcycle industry for 11 years now most of that has been as a clothing manager for veriouse dealerships and now I work as an instructer where part of my job is to explain to students about the safety aspects of veriouse types of motorcycle kit, pompey I don't like to disagree with people but i'm afraid your wrong it is a fact that most people(not all, but most) do have either a shoei head or an arai head, buying a helmet is a very personal thing what fits and suits one person isn't going to be the same for the next person.

alreet pompey?! got an arai viper gt and alpinestars gp pro gloves also, gloves are boss and the arai fits like a glove....or helmet?! thats why i bought it!

however, the side pods on it are feckin noisey, and the visor mechanisim is quite possibly the worst thing ever invented by man....cant see why they still make it that way but there you go! :dunno its a right pain when you want to clean your visor properly of or change it or the insert to a tinted one...i took mine out a couple of days ago and still cant get it back on :rant

that said its really comfy- but i'd try a shoei next because of its bad points - its the lid that fitted me second best. hope you find some corkin winter deals ....:thumbup

I completely understand Millemille, my best mate from school was wiped out by a van in Bromley Essex in 1998 and his lid saved him. He went throught the windscreen after being T-Boned and had his throat sliced open by the wind wiper. His lid saved him and it was a cheapy so I understand the fact that they all have to pass tests. Just for clarification, after he got out of hospital his dad took him to buy another FS1E( :inlove ) so he wasn't scared of bikes . All equipment is designed to fit the 95th percentile as I am now discovering with a Uni course I'm doing but was just after a general opinion on what people prefer etc
