OK I've been reading reports that peeps have fitting rear master cylinders off shivers and duc 1098's does anyone or has any one fitted the later 06 onwards rs125 cylinder as it looks pretty much the same just not sure if the mounting holes are the same spacing??
Or does anyone know of any other makes/models that will fit?

I fitted a Shiver one, works well. There's one on the bay for sale for £80.00

Yep seen that one bud but its a bit pricey for me seen a 1098 one going for about 33 quid or can get a new shiver one off wemoto for £60 just done a bit more searching and a cagiva moto 125 and cagiva elephant 750 rear brembo units look the same as the 1098 one

Any1 know if routing the brake line outside the new master cylinder helps to keep the heat off it from the motor???

Damn lookin at the pics looks like I'm gonna need a different hose as well cos it'll need a straight instead of bent end!!

No doubt the original is tricky to bleed but once done properly it stays rock solid for ages. I can lock the back end up no problem....not that that's of any use! :D

Thx bud but the top exiting cylinders I have only heard good things about and the brake becomes more powerful than a fully functioning original unit where by you can lock the back wheel up at much higher speeds .......so it looks like a no brainer to upgrade it really and not have to bleed the thing every 5 minutes!!!!!

I can't see how using a mastercylinder off another bike will make any difference if its still mounted in the original position next to the exhaust:confused. as it still get hot and boils the brake fluid.Only cure would be to move it

The replacement master cylinders have a larger bore inlet & reservoir, this combined with the correct bleeding proceedure means they actually work, BTW the oil doesn't boil

To tell you the truth bud I think the original brembo master cylinder that comes on the RSV/
RSVR/TUONO is a unit that was originally designed to be mounted vertically behind a rear sets like most jap bikes as the hose is mounted at the end of the master cylinder.
According to owners who have retro fitted the shiver or ducati 1098/1198 brembo unit with the hose exit at the top have all experienced no brake fade and increased stopping power when mounted in exactly the same place beneath the motor so I suspect it is nothing to do with the heat.

I've been looking into replacing the rear brake master cylinder as well, will the 1098 master cylinder just swap straight in for the RSV brembo unit? Or does the piping need moving as well?

OK dude I have been researching this yesterday and today......from what I saw on another aprilia forum is that yes the 1098 unit bolts straight up but with a different brake hose as the original one with 90 degree bend off the master won't be the correct angle coming off the top mounted 1098 jobbie.......so a bit of researching and I seen a ducati 750 ss hose that looks long enough and has the right looking angle ends on it....the cheapest second hand 1098 hose I could find was £20!!!!....gotta lots of bits to sort for my mot so gotta try do this as cheap as poss .........won the duke 750ss today on eBay for 7 quid and still have yet to get my master cylinder as I'm watching a few different ones from different bikes on eBay but they don't finish for a few days......will post my results with pics when fitting and completed........I also gotta do my steering bearings with uprated tapers so shall post a thread with pics on doing that aswell for all to see...............
