hello all -

just a bit of advice if anyone can help -

im a little unsure as to what oil to use ? - (57 rsv ) bikes done about 3500 miles and i want to change oil filter etc -

theres a multitude of oils out there and as my first twin i dont know - some people recommend oil designed for v twins - think the handbook lists 10/40s

whats the majority of riders using ??

any advice welcome

Whats it got in it already? semi or full?

If unsure use semi.

10/40 is fine in our climate tbh.

cheers areess - the twin oil supposed to be good tho - i know of guys who use it in other twins - any thoughts ? - like say new to twins so unsure

I'm using Ipone 15.5 Synthesis 15W50 as I got it from Busters for £20 delivered.

Have to say it's doing the job, done 1500 miles on it and it's still as clean as the day I put it in.

No clutch issues etc....

Well worth it, just wish I'd bought bulk now.

yeah the hand book recommends 15/50's - maybe go with that spec - on the first service dealer put 15/50 silkolene comp 4 in -but i have read else where 10/40 is better

I've just put Putoline Syntech 15/50 in, its expensive but i think where oil is concerned for a few extra nuggets... its worth it.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR TORQUE WRENCH PAL WHEN DOING UP EVERYTHING ON THESE BIKES VERY IMPORTANT , YOU PROB ALREADY KNOW THAT SO SORRYFOR EGG SUCKING LESSON IN ADVANCE :eatcorn

After last nights little breaking session, i have to agree not to do any more work to her without using a torque wrench, i was lucky it was only a £10 part i broke, could have been a lot worse, and i have learnt my lesson now.

as for oil, i have 10/40 rock oil in mine. used it in my kwaks, and it's great in the ape too......

cheers dave / beanie yeah i use torque wrench on most things sump plugs etc - its far to easy to over tighten things then undertighten them
