I have attempted a wheelie last saturday, but I am a long way off deliberately pulling a proper one. Can anyone advise me on the pure art of wheeling?

Hi Stefano,

Most people learn first gear power wheelies, easy enough to do, just pull away and wind the power on, keys is be smooth, dont give it a handful cos you will be seeing your arse go down the road (and youve done that already Milleboy ) .

I prefer second gear clutch up wheelies. Cruise to around 30mph in second then slip the clutch slightly, blip the throttle and let the clutch out. Takes a bit of practice to get it all to work together, but i found this works for me.

After that i gets a lot easier, you then can change into third and fourth.

Anyway that just my own personal experience, im sure that loads of people on here have different techniques.

Cheers,

burp it up in first! works for me!!, I havent learnt to clutch it up yet.

Clutch it up in second at 30-40mph. Closer to 40 you need a little bit more throttle but it is less fierce coming up. This works for me. But just dont get spooked and shut right off when it comes up. It always feels higher than it actually is so you probably aren't about to flip it and the twin engine will bring it back down fast feltching your fork seals. Either shut off slowly or give it a blip on the way down. Or try pushing up on the shift leaver when its in the air at high revs with no clutch, initially it wont change gear because the revs are up, as you shut off momentarily it will shift to 3rd then you give it a little more gas and you can hold it in 3rd for a bit. Has to be quite high up tho to change gear so best to master little ones at about 35mph first. Different people do it different ways but thats how I manage to do it with ok-ish but not perfect control:eatcorn

2ND is the best but also watch the steering bearings after a while they do wear which can also be expensive as well as fork seals ,
