I'll be entering the worlds fastest wheelie competition again next year, the only thing is I've always used GSXR's in the past as they are the best bike to do it on.
I will be using the the other half's K9 GSXR 1000 for the actual competition but I was wondering if a took the Tuono and had a few runs on that too are there any issues with long distance wheelies?

It seems fine on ones a few hundred yards long and it was OK in forth but I remember there being issues with Ducatis having oil starvation on the front cylinder if they were on the back wheel for more than a few seconds.

So sitting the Tuono on its back wheel for a kilometre will be just under a minuet so I don't want to pop it.

If I can get it over the kilo above 130 it would be the fastest V twin :thumbup

Thanks

Ducati's have a wet sump engine. The early 851/888/916 motors had a shallow sump that fill the airbox with oil after a long wheelie. The later 998S and 999's had a deep sump engine.
The T has a dry sump,so you should be ok,I would have thought.

Sounds good to me, must say I'm quite looking forward to taking the Tuono up Elvingtons runway

Having been a wheelie addict in the past the Tuono would be great for stunting around a parking lot but I can't imagine 100 plus wheelies on one for very long without issues- Personally I think just getting to the 80-90mph sweet spot and holding it for a 1.6 miles would take a lot more than on a 1000cc I4 which seems easy let alone 130mph speed-

I love wheelies in the right setting but how the hell do you get the front wheel up past 3rd gear??!!

I would say your front wheel isn't high enough and possibly not high enough in the revs when you change?
I can lift mine in first and carry it through the gears in to fourth no problem.or pick it up in second and go up.
The only thing it struggles with is lifting in high gears like my GSXR would.

i went to elvington a few years ago to watch this..... and i can honestly say.................................. yer ****** bonkers mon... all of yer. :thumbup

sell it and buy a gen 1.....i dont have any problems gettin mine up in third gear......
mine u i aint tryed it in fourth 100+mph wheelies on the road are a bit to much for me...

It looks like the Tuonos natural wheelie speed is around 90 it'll sit there all day long in third with very little effort.
100+ takes a bit more throttle in 4th not managed to get to the top end of the revs yet to hook 5th but its coming slowly.
More practice is needed
