What's Up?

Rose out to Rika's (Boxhill) on Saturday and after hot dog and coke went to start the bike to ride back.
Fired first time and then stopped.
Started again and she fired up but just as I rode off noticed the red triangle warning light in the top right was on and the word "SERVICE" was up in the LCD display.
Bike seemed to run OK but I was a bit concerned so stopped and checked oil levels etc.
All seemed OK so started again and all lights extinguished and all seemed OK.
Hasn't done it since but wondered if you guys has ever experienced this and if it means anything is wrong or just a one off glitch?
Cheers.

Give it time and see whit develops. If yer get it up again kill the engine with the kill switch but leave the ign on and go into yer menu and pull up the diagnostic enter 13432 and yer should be able to pull the codes for the warning.

maybe its due a service?

Just been done at the stealers I bought it from in March.
Only done 950 so far.
Anyway if that was the case should it not be on permanently?

its the Aprilia random warning generator system ...

If it goes away ... nfp

If it stays ... get a body to run a diagnostic on it just incase.

Griff determined my constant triangle warning was down to a dodgy connection on the tip over switch which had been bodged ,,, but never reset in the black box

F, it resets when yer turn the ignition off. So unless the fault is constantly there it won't come back up.
Mine flags up one fir the cam position sensor, sometimes it comes on mins into a run and sometimes it doesn't come on fir 200miles or so. It's doin ma napper in.

My baby did that in a ****** downpour. Only ever happened once, and it had been rained on before, and has been rained on since, but has never done it since. I guess it's a nfp type...

mine has a ****** Meta alarm, if I let it arm itself, it beeps once and it doesn't seem to do anything, I can turn the ignition on and start the bike, and it runs perfectly normally except for the SERVICE and red triangle being on. :coocoo

If I set the alarm with the fob, it beeps twice and everything is armed, turning the ignition on sets the alarm off.

they can do it if you leave the ignition on too long before you start it...turn it off, then on again and start as soon as the rev counter needle comes back down !!

it hapend to me foggy twice, it was the conector under the pillion seat next to the rear indicator one of my wires was loos. put some tape on it never happend again.

I had one of those on my last bike (Fazer1000).
Let me down and stranded in the middle of nowhere.
As soon as I got it home the Meta went in the bin!
Guarantee it will go wrong at some point.
Just hope you are at home!
Suggest you bin it if you can before it lets you down.

(By the way thanks everyone for the thoughts on the display problem - I'll see what happens - fingers crossed!)

Hi All,

This has come back to bite me with vengeance!

Rode out today, about 15 miles from home 1 cylinder cuts out and I have a permanent red warning triangle lit and "SERVICE" reading in the LCD display.

Bike runs on one cylinder and all OK on the pre-start checks but as soon as I start it (on 1 cylinder) the warning comes up.

Best riding day of the year so far as well - bugger!

I have not looked at anything yet but wondered if any of you old hands out there might have any ideas.

Cheers.

Very slightly off thread but can anybody tell me the answer to this?:
When I'm gieing it waldy in the first couple of gears, the red warning light flickers on briefly. It only happens then and goes oot eftr I stop accelarating.

gadgie is that no yer hittin the rev limit settin, get intae the menu and see whit it's set at?

Italian electrics fecking stupid bloody ****** switches mine today stopped for a pee in the middle of nowhere as you do, bike refuses to even think about starting not a peep out of it :no so ten minutes of fecking about with it with no joy and just about to go walking to little village I've just passed to find out where I am for the RAC, I give it one more go and it fires up :crazy
Still had a good day out and it never missed a beat after.

Panic over guys.

Started it up & felt the pipes to see which was not firing.
Was the front.
Tank up, air cleaner box off and went to remove the plug lead to check the plug.
The cap was hardly on the plug!
Took the plug out anyway to check and then put all back this time fully clicking the plug cap home.
I now have both cylinders back!
Must have not been pushed on properly when it had it's last service which was by the stealer I bought it off (allegedly!)
Feel a proper ding bat bothering you guys with something so simple.
Still me ECU's OK!

Cheers.

SloMo min...all tak ma manual intae work the morn an scan the pages fur ye......as Aldo says its yer rev limit warnin light. Ye can set it where ye want as an indicator tae change up tae get max ooomph like yer racin. Usually set at 6000rpm until run in.

Easy enough tae adjust an ye winae manage tae over rev it anyway as the ECU will tak care o that an cut the spark/fuel tae stop ye blawn it up.
