Whats This then?

I fitted my new tail tidy and noticed this loopback connector. Didn't think much about it, other than wonder what it was until I couldn't start when I had finished. No starter motor, just a whirring sound. disconnected the loopback, then I had a starter moror, but it wouldn't fire. Reconnected, and hey presto all was fine. coincinence? maybe I disturbed the connector when I was looking at it. . . anyway, what is is? Is it a diag mode or something?

Na they didn't work.
Anyway, its a two pin connector with 2 blue / gray wires, connected together with a loop??
