As the subject says really as its hard work in town and i feel im slipping the clutch everywhere!!!

Standard gearing is 17/42....but 16/42 makes it much better around town....but 16/44 is even better but you would have to get a new chain to fit i think :thumbup

Cheers Sprocker

If i bought a 16t sprocket for the front could i use the exisiting chain??

And how do i know if its a 520 525 chain on the bike already?

Thanks

Yes existing chain is ok with 16T and it should be stamped on the chain links 525 or 520 :thumbup

I run a 15/42 set up with a 525 chain. Even better. Runs the same as a 16/44 set up.

some kinda new Saab?? lol.
I fancy a 520 chain, but in 12 months and 7 thousand miles of wet weather including 2 euro GP visits, I knackered my AFAM chain and sprox...arg, normally last me about 12k before lunching sprok teeth.
Trying a renthal chain now, 108 links fit with 16/44, gorra wheelbase like a buell now.yeehaaww

Just checked ive got a DID 525 chain ( DID are pretty good??)

So i need to find a sprocket for the front 16T 525 compatible.

I found a site for changing the front sprocket ( an idiots guide) but cant seem to find it now, so if any one can help me out here than thats great!!

Here's a useful download AF1 site's sprocket ratio calculator

Figures are for the old RSV's, but if you fill in the pink column (ooh err) with the figures frm your manual for later models it will be valid, it's just a bunch of maths in a pretty table.

Helps a bit deciding whether to go down one on the front or up 3 on the back (similar effect) and you can see what difference a 190/50 rear has over a 180/55.
