i was out and about enjoying the half decent weather we had today and decided to give my bike a good thrash .

only problem was i was caught speeding but a unmarked police car .

i pulled over and he said they averaged me doing 118 mph in a 60

what sort of punishment am i gonna be looking at ?

had licence for 7 years and never been caught speeding or doing any other traffic offences before

is it really gonna be bad enough for me to think about selling the rsv-r

Has he given you a court summons? I think unless you have a very good reason to keep your license (like you need it for work etc) you could get it revoked, and maybe a possible ban, if you get just points i'd say you got off very lightly!

thats a bit of a problem as your into instant ban territory (more than 40mph over speed limit 60 day ban) although the court does have some descretion if you need license to work, good luck, its so easy on these bikes!

Oooops! Doesn't look good mate. Feel for ya as 'there but for the grace of God go I' and many others I suspect. Superbikes are just so damn fast and it's tempting to keep on pushing, eh. Think you're definitely looking at a ban to be honest but don't know for how long. Don't expect they'll be very lenient with you though over a ton. My ex got done at 93 in a temp 40 (roadworks on a dual carriageway) and escaped with a big fine and 6 points. Best thing is to turn up in court wearing a nice smart suit and be terribly polite and contrite. At least it'll be over winter, so come next spring you can get out and enjoy the sun again!! Good luck anyway, fingers crossed for you.

Mate got pulled by an unmarked, 98 in a 60..He didn't need his licence for work..Got a 2 week ban and no points..Best of luck..

Gutted for you mate, but I share the sentiments on here. You are in a world of ****. Almost twice the limit, you are defo going to get a ban.

What's likely to happen?

A ban is what's likely in all fairness. 118 in a 60 is right there in the twice the speed limit zone so you're not looking good at all.

No previous motoring offences 'may' stand you in good stead as far as a court deciding what punishment to dish out but the reality is it's a bit of a lottery as to what you're likely to receive. Do you have a genuine, pukka bona fide reason why your life would be a complete nightmare if you were to lose your licence ? ( i.e you solely care for a disabled child and have to drive him/her somewhere on a daily basis and to not be able to do so would be extremely detrimental ~ that type of thing ) What type of road was it, was it busy with lots of traffic on it?

Here's a link to a police dog handler who got a 50 day ban and costs for doing twice the limit, although not as fast as yourself mate.

Seeing as you've been reported for process, i.e you were given a notice of intended prosecution by the police ( well you should have had that i.e verbally or with a written form ) which will result in a court summons, then there's nothing stopping you seeking some legal advice just to see how best to proceed relevent to your local area.

But dust off your best suit, play the fine upstanding member of soceity who's never been in trouble and is incredibly remorseful for such a silly and dangerous :devious:eatcorn lapse card (even though to do so would be about as appealing as chewing on a **** sandwich ), and all that malarky and see what gives.

I got done doing 100 in a 70 zone and got 6 points and £500. I had to go to court as they said anything over 101 is an Automatic ban. Might only be for 28 days though.

I got done 3 years ago at 128mph in a 60 over 1/4mile and got 3 months ban + £360 fine.
They will be out in force over the next couple of days if it stays dry :jack

I'd say this one is worth consulting one of those specialist speeding lawyers about. Good luck.

Bad luck mate. Better dust the suit and book in to the Barbers. We all know the risks but its a bitter pill to swallow.

Know exactly how youre feeling right now, (****), got caught myself last june 46mph over the limit, got £250 fine and 6 points, I went to see a solicitor and he said expect a ban, they dont know everything.
My nephew was caught doing 156mph closley followed by an unmarked subaru (enticed to race), he only got a 6 week ban and a £500 fine, so there is a possibility you could keep your licence, a
good letter from an employer normally does the trick.
Oh and a good groveling one from yourself telling them how sorry you are, wont happen again, no licence no job etc, fingers crossed for ya mate. :thumbup

just a update went to court today and got a 50 day ban with £333 fine not as bad as i thought

that was a deffo 'let off'
well pleased for ya mate.
Now remember its all about STEALTHY' speeding..ie, look behind in front AND above before legging it!.
PS-was it a silver skoda octavia? itgot me a few months ago in North lincs.
cheers Ck
