What size chain does my 99 mille take? going to want to replace mine sooner reather than later

You might want to take this oportunity to go for 16/44 gearing with new sprockets and 110 link 525 H/D chain. This is considered the best road gearing for all pre 2003.5 RSV Mille

Standard is 17/42, but as Legs says (and as i've just found) 16/44 is much better in all aspects :doug
