Hi everybody!! :)

I am new to the group, and have joined as I have been offered an RSVR at what can only be described as a really good price, really good!!

My name is Mark, and I currently have a fazer1000 and a royal enfield!! Don't ask!! lol

I was wondering if anyone could offer me some pointers as to what to look for when buying an RSVR, if there are any problems etc?

The bike is a 2006 model, but registered on an 07 plate, it has done 900 miles and has had a new fuel pump already. A friend of mine had a 2004 RSVR and he had a swingarm crack (is this a problem with the 2006 models?) and he did have the engine flat out one day for about 1 minute, and it went bang in a big way, but other than that he highly recommends them.

Any advice that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers :)

hey bone - welcome
as far as im aware - there was a swingarm recall i think it was about 56 -07 plates
you need to check that it had the first service 600 miles and that the valves were checked - read the threads about checking the oil too so you know and check it out before you buy - ( how u mean he had the engine flat out one day and it went bang ???? ) was it just bouncing off the limiter full revs ?

im sure tho fusebox ( griff ) and many others with much more exerience will be able to shed lots more light on the things to check

Swingarm recall was on new style RSVR and Factory 2003.5, 2004 and 2005 models. The later 2006 onwards models are fine.

The rotax v twin engines are virtually bullet proof unless abused to the point of destruction.

Bikes need to be kept on an Optimate as batteries need to be 100% to avoid starting and sprag clutch issues. The back brake can become week due to air in the brake lines and master cylinder. Bikes kept outside can suffer from electrical and charging gremlins and never jet wash one. Other than that a few problems occur as with all bikes. As long as the bikes been looked after and serviced correctly then it should be fine

passers by swooning, and people staring alot:inlove as you thunder past matey that what ya gotta look out for :thumbuplol

lol Butch! I waant one already.

Thanks for the info, will check out the oil section.

Bike has been stored outside, but it has never got water near it, I do know that the battery is shagged, and I think, but will check, that it has had it's 600 mile service, got a new air filter then also, for some strange reason?

Bike is a mates, but he never really uses it, think i will have to take it off him lol

Not sure why my mates went bang, he was thrashing it trying to catch his mate on a blade and another on a zx10 when, this is what the dealer said, the spark plug had broken up and bits had been hammered all around the head, but this was covered under warranty.
