What is the penalty for an exhaust that the police deem as being to loud?

I phoned up the road patrol department of the police today and managed to find out that all they can do for loud exhausts is keep issuing the £30 fine everytime you get pulled with a de-baffled can or an illegal can/system. However if you get cought on the same street or in the same area over and over again and the residents are complaining regulary they have grounds to issue section 59 for driving antisocially and disturbing members of the public. This still is not an offence where they can issue points or banns, they can only give you only hefty fines If they decide to take it to court.

So for me lads the baffles will be left in the garage.

but they can take your bike off you or give you an ASBO then you won't be allowed to start it.

No mate worst they cand do is seize your bike and make you put baffles in, but that also comes with a fine lol you get your bike back as soon as you make it legal. The copper I was talking to was a biker himself.

So's arryace :biggrin

In Devon i have never heard or seen anyone get stopped for loud cans. In fact i have never been stopped at all. All my mates have loud cans and no bother.

Sabre does Rospa with some Police riders with the loudest Can this side of the pennines and no issue. Some counties seem to feel they have an issue with anti social biking in general and a fine for a loud can is just part of that i think.

i thought that was what i said:thumbup

and you could get an asbo. your noisey bike could be considered by some as anti-social and an asbo would stop you from repeating the anti social activity.

a family localy got an asbo on their gas boiler because the neighbour could hear the boiler, the family could not use thier boiler until it was replaced.

That's mental! I've had an ASBO put on me before, but couldn't imagine one being put on my bike . . . . . She's so well behaved (ie I'm still alive lol).
