This white thing which i thought was a fuel filter, snapped today:angry and needless to say I didn't have another one lying around, so I just replaced it with a fuel pipe connector wotsit. The inside of the broken piece is just an orange rubber thing which i'm guessing is some kind of non return valve, I'm probably wrong!

My questions are, a) What is it? b) What does it do? c) Do I need it? d) Can I just replace it with a straight fuel line connector?

Please help!

It is the valve for the slipper clutch (back torque eliminator), you dont have to have it there but down shifts will be smoother with it.

I'm struggling to work out what pipe that is, are you sure it's the fuel pipe?, if it is my one dosnt have a white part on it, it's braided and has black plastic round it

It's the pipe that's got the metal "plate" in the middle that you press and it splits, and an o ring inside the pipe that comes off the engine.....I wondered what it was for too as there's a fuel pipe next to that's steel braided

Awesome, thanks Tash, i'll get a new one ordered, unless you do them?!?

It's a rubber pipe coming from the thottle bodies, and splits into two between the barrels. Mines a 2002 if that makes any difference.
