Hi all

Refueling the the V4 for the umpteenth time this month, filling and looking around at the pump in my own little world got me thinking, is standard unleaded the best fuel for the V4, is there any benefit in using super unleaded?, is it worth the extra cost?

Anyone any experience or thoughts?

No difference in power (that I can tell), no difference in mpg. But I've been advised to run a tank full every now and then to help keep the injectors clean.

I usually put 95 (premium) in and it runs well. I had to put 98 (higher octane) in by default on trip and could feel the difference. Seemed to run smoother, not necessarily faster. Haven't tried standard 91 in it.

Hmmm. Wonder how 97ron does that. It's the 'detergents' added to 95 and 97ron that help keep injectors clean. I wasn't aware there was any extra special additive in 97ron. ?!?

Not sure? Just relaying what I've been told by an Aprilia mechanic?

I use the better quality in everything now just because it doesn't have any Bio in it at present, regular unleaded has between 3-5% and it's not good for your fuel system particularly older stuff

Yep...this.

No benefit performance wise, but if you have a plastic tank, there's less chance of ethanol damage (tank swelling)

Good info. I knew ethanol was the cause of the plastic tanks stretching. Didn't realise there was less/none in 97 vs 95. Which is a good reason to use 97ron all the time.

Hot dam...does it work on dicks......oh hang on..that means no alcohol don't it....bugger

Get more k's per tank running 98, less running 95 and never tried our crap 91 standard rubbish in it yet.

Might give the top stuff a go in mine next fill up, see if anythings different?

I only ever run 98 in my bikes because it doesn't go off as quick as the lower stuff, so no drama's if it sits a month or so (not that that happens often)

I always run my bikes on super unleaded (98 octane) whether its my dirt bikes or road bikes. It just feels the right thing to do !!!!!! Rob
