As above, I have a Sachs steering damper. Is this correct ?
Every spec sheet I looked on seems to have diferrent things on.
Seems a bit odd having a Sachs when the rest is Ohlins.
Apart from the obvious what is the diference between R and F ?

AFAIK the differences Factory to R Model are as follows;
Oz (or Aprilia) Forged Alloy wheels rather than cast
Ohlins forks rather then Sachs
Ohlins rear shock rather than Sachs
Carbon Fibre bodywork rather than plastic
Engines are the same (07 on)
Brakes are the same
Different paint and Frame.

On the Tuoldo the Factory used to have an Ohlin's steering damper, a close ratio gearbox and a few subtle trim changes as well.

If you look at the costs to add the Oz, Ohlins and carbon as extras the Factory is a bargain. :thumbup

Regards the paint, - I was out at the weekend on Liz's 07 R model, keeping AF1-Windy company whilst he finished running his new Factory in. We were discussing the colour scheme - the frame is still a different colour to the wheels. I wonder if I might strip mine down over winter and get the wheels/frame/swing arm all done on single colour? :dunno

Just a quick point, the wheels from 07 onwards are no longer Oz. They are still forged but made by a Russian company if i recall.

I have read/heard somewhere a few times that the Gen 2 Factory motor pushes out an extra 6 bhp over standard trim. Ive never checked out how true it is but it does crop up in mags and forums from time to time.

Also Nobby, my 09' damper is a Sachs too. I was a little surprised when i first noticed but i'm not that fussed really.

My frame, wheels and forks all match up pretty well Paul. What year is yours?

Just a small point (That type A++ personality coming out again), The fork on the standard "T" is a Showa, not a Sachs. Other than that, you are spot on about the differences.

Oops - you are right I meant Showa not Sachs.

My Factory is newer than a new thing that's brand new. Or in English I am still awaiting delivery. (Importer has 14 left)

The tales of more powerful engines come from the early incarnations. The first Tunuo Factories were fitted with the latest (last) incarnation of the V60 - the Evo, whilst the 06 Tunuo R was fitted with the "Titanium" and the Tuoldo has the original V990. Claimed power was something like 125bhp(V990) 133(Ti) & 139(Evo) crank figures.

The factory does have a sachs steering damper - I checked Windy's on Saturday, so I removed the Ohlins from my Tuoldo & swapped it with the one from Liz's 07. I will swap them over again when I get hold of the factory. There isn't a huge difference but the Ohlins unit is adjustable, so you can wind it right off for trackdays, and stiffen it up for those long touring rides through France & Spain.

Cheers boys. The paint is the same on my frame and wheels, well with my eyes it is. [see new thread].
Why the Sachs damper though, fookin cheapskates eh.

There are 4 or 5 of us with the 09 Black Dream Factory on here now arent there? Not seen another on the road yet though.

I was out with a mate on his on Saturday.

Sad thing is I haven't got mine yet I was on my wife's black 07 (Daren't ride my Tuoldo now she's sold)

I saw one at the MCN save the Wales ride, won't as nice as mine tho :blush
More exclusive than the RSV4 eh :yes

Just to concur, my 09 has a sachs damper fitted. I had an issue with it as it rusted on the ends? Only due to 1 blast in the French rain just outside Bordeaux, so not good!!!!
When I asked the dealer they said that the Ohlins is less expensive than the sachs, but they thought it should be an ohlins on the factory. But after some research the sachs one was correct.
Managed to replace the rusted damper for a new one under warranty though, so not all bad.

anyone else with this issue?

Cheers

HM

They were having a laugh. If you price them up via Aprilia the Sachs unit is £260 and the Ohlins is £607.

Harris quote £214 for most models of Ohlins Steering damper so I figure you could get one for that.
