Just out of interest as I contemplate a second bike for touring (can't do it on my rsvr, back snags) what's your other bike?

Sweet! You probably ride a lot more freely on that knowing if you chuck it down the road it don't matter. (As long as you're ok obviously)

I've been riding mine so long that I've forgotten what it's like to ride something else. Not that I ride it properly, every time I go out on it I feel that it's so much more capable than how I ride it. I can't see me ever selling it but the day will come I suppose.

I'm gunna have a dabble with an adventure bike. Tenere, Tiger xc or GS providing it fits in my garage! There's quite a lot around for about £5k If I don't like touring I can still scratch on the RSVR

Variety is the spice of life! 
But I like my sports bikes too much. Wouldn't mind a Fireblade which I wouldn't mind riding in the rain (I do my utmost to keep the RSVR dry, in case it disintegrates.lol), and I would really love a Panigale; I am attracted to those like I am to my Aprilia.

Ha ha not wrong there! I have always hankered after an R1 ever since I rode my mates first series one but now the S1000RR is coming into my price window so who knows. The adventure bike thing might not last long but I wanna tick the box.
A friend had a new blade when I had my VFR, an awesome bike and lightening quick. Shame the bugger wouldn't let me have a go yet he let me ride his 1098, that was quite the beast but damned uncomfortable.

I have always liked the original R1; just something so right about that bike. The 1098 has never managed to attract me; looks too much like a modern variation on the 916 (which is design perfection in my eyes). Same with the BMW; fantastic bike, but I just can't get over its looks (she might be great in bed, but I need to be turned on, first.hehe).
I remember following a BMW GS once, on the Kwak, thinking I'll easily take him through the twisties. How wrong was I! I was surprised by how well those things can take bends.

I bought a GSA on behalf of a mate who was waiting for it in Thailand. I picked it up from Chesterfield and rode it back to Hull. A lovely machine on the motorway then on the country lanes back home it really performed well, I was surprised too. I thought it would be a right pig but nope.
I know what you mean about the 1000rr from some angles it don't look right, a bit marmite I suppose. Your analogy works perfectly ha ha.
