What do you make of this??

there is not a choke on any mille, it is a fast idle and only on the pre 03 bikes

Choke....Fast idle...Onboard vibrator... Whatever, I suggest you don't use it initially.
Most of my biking life has been on English and jap bikes with the exception of a Benelli 750 sei. This is my first Aprilia so will have to read up on it.

Lifes a ***** eh? Paid £600 for the sei in 1984 and sold it for £ 750. Its worth £6000 minimum nowadays { Sob }

i think you will find that most Milles with a fast onboard vibrator need to be used when cold starting, sounds like most of your bikes have had carbs in the past.

The Mille can be a fickle starter, the late 03 models onwards dont have a fast idle and you just leave the throttle alone and hit the starter, the ones with a fast idle seem to need it set at somewhere between half and full to start from cold.

Should have foregone the £150 of profit on the Benelli:dowhat

Mine sometime doesnt like to start even when its hot! If i`v been riding, then stop and turn it off, if I dont leave it for abit sometimes it wont start, then I leave it for like 20secs and fires up fine. Bloody italaaanos INNIT :D

[QUOTE=, sounds like most of your bikes have had carbs in the past.

Tis true i can remember the days of tickle,Tickle decompress, find the compression stroke and swing down from a great hight and hope it don't kick back or u end up with a right leg wrapped around your neck or sat on the grass verge wondering what happened. Those were the days when men wuz men:)

Its true.. it happen to me once, and the solution was open the throttle and start the engine. What I don't know it's the reason why this happen... this look like the old cars...

The key thing to remember with all this is don't keep trying to start it. You will knacker the starter clutch and flatten your battery. I had the AA round once to tow my bike home, it just wouldn't start- Griff said, WOT. Unfortunately the battery was dead by then. So got the AA man to put his battery pack on, tried it and it fired. SMD Mr AA man!!!

My '99 can be right ******* to the point where every press of the starter button seems like a red or black in the casino. Sometimes she just doens't fancy it, which could be a problem as I'm starting to use it as a commuter in January of all months! Might get a new battery of Santa.
