been talking with a fellow zone member about the discs on my bike [looks like they are cheap chinese wavy crap ] they look nice but i have started to feel they are not up to the job now iam getting faster on her, problem is iam reading mixed reviews about all the discs listed below so whats your thoughts and what pads would you fit for lets say fast road

options are
1 galfers
2 blackshadow
3 armstrongs
4 brakeing

I believe brake components have to be DOT approved like helmets, tires, etc. If you are saying some discs warp, what are the odds all those discs on bikes... Some burn out and never warp. They just run past that limit number stamped on the disc. WOT are the odds, it is more rider technique as to who warps and who wears down a disc.

If I am going to ask what brake, what disc, I'd call the manufactures of the disc. If you ask the field [people using said brands] there is you real time environment, not some disc bolted to an electric motor. Same as riding a dyno'd bike and tuning the bike on the road say are two different animals.

True, but I won't be riding with cheap tyres or a cheap crash helmet on my noggin.

The brake performance will change depending on the iron and other content of the disc and pads, I think some Chinese copy discs don't have enough iron, so don't rust and don't have the same grip with the OM pads.

Stay safe - stick with OE discs on the Aprilia. Pukka discs....nuff said. All others are CRAP!

update just found the invoce for the discs they are stealth bullett hyperlites from sheffeild they cost over £300 anyone heard of them ???

Daz, if you do internet searchs for brake discs you will find people who are happy with certain brands and others that hate the same product....it comes down to how you ride and the expectation of the product....put your original discs back on for a while and feel the difference, yes they're not as attractive as wavys but at least you'll see the difference in performance then you can judge if you're happy enough with the stealth discs, me personally i wouldn't touch them in a million years, you and hundreds of other riders may well be perfectly happy with how they perform but you will feel a MASSIVE impovement with the oe discs

If i was in the market to replace and money was no object I'd replace with PFM cast iron discs (although these are not wavy) and brembo pads for unbeatable stopping power......2nd choice would be Galfers and brembo pads if i was on a budget i'd go for Black Shadow discs and Bendix pads.....I know a lot of people on the hayabusa forum that have used the black shadows for years with no problems reported and very good feedback regarding there performance, these are experienced bikers whose opinion i trust who ride one of the fastest and heaviest bikes around and if they perform well on a hayabusa then for me they're good enough for anything, and they'll be what i buy when i'm in the market for replacement discs, you may well find other opinions on the web slating them but you'll find that with almost any product....only you can decide what is right for you mate and how much you're prepared to spend....its a minefield out there pal but buy with your head....when you're going a bit hot into a corner one sunny ride out you want to now whats stopping you is gonna work

just like the look of wavy

form over function?

not when it comes to the things that are stopping you from high speed. I've had aftermarket disks on other bikes due to the cost of the OE kit, but found that they a. wore quicker and b. didn't work as well, so it turned out to be a false economy.

Stealth are ****! **** like a big stinky pile of ****! Binem, bin em, bin em,stinky discs of crappy **** ****. Did I mention they are Sheeite?
Buy OE discs & pads And stay safe, your brakes make you slow/stop, not look good.

Dont forget that some people will say stuff is the best, not cos they can tell it is but because they`ve seen the stickers on Ross`is bike etc. Fashionistas of the bike world! As Mr tourette said a lot of it comes down to personal preference.
Bike manufacturers spend massive amounts of time and money developing their products to perform as they should, and sometimes aftermarket stuff can make things worse or just waste your money. Just my 2p.

yes your both right plus what i do get is rid of the ****** blue centers lol
