wet weather riding

I had conti sport attacks on a blade, only got 1700 miles out of the rear.
Can't make my mind up now wether I should try thr pilot power 2's or roadsmarts.

I had pilots before the conti race attacks.

From what I remember of them, very similar to the sport attack I have on now (but sexier tread patteron on the conti!).

The race attacks were truely awesome - so much confidence on the lean. Miles more grip than I have ever had in a tyre before. Wore out pretty quick tho. Lil bit hairy riding on the wire once the rubber wore off... shitballs.

i agree with nob, dunlop sportmax (mine are D208f) are pretty good tyres all round, i use the tuono for work everyday, whatever the weather, they have enough grip in the wet, and you get a warning before they decide to slide from underneath you.
pilot road 2's are a very good tyre too, i used to run them on my z750, which done 6-7000 on them, and they cant be faulted in the wet, they do suffer on the track a bit though :s.

I have to agree with the above on all counts. My Road 2s never really started to pill at the track, indicating a fairly hard tire. They have, however, outlasted any othe tire that I have had by a large margin. My first summer on Dunlops saw some decent pilling on spirited rides through the mountains. I may just switch back to them on my next set.

Just been reading up on the sportsmax, sound very good.
If they are better than the roadsmarts they will be a cracking tyre

Ran the Tuoldo on Pilot Sport 2CT's for the last couple of year.

Did the lot for me, road, wet & track.

Does have a very "tall" profile though, especially as I ran 180/55 rather than 190/50 (clearance issues on Tuoldo's) This gives a very sudden turn in, feels odd at first, but massive grip at full lean.

Edit. Oh, about 4-5k from a rear.

What's the diff between the Pilot Sports and the Pilots Roads? I'm running the roads. Thinking that the Dunlops might be it next set. Still not convinced about the Pirellis.

Its Pilot Power and Pilot Road now mate.
The Power uses a softer compound all over, more of a track biased tyre. It also has less tread than the road. Gives less miles too, about 3k from a rear

Sorry, my typo. Mine were Pilot Power 2CT's - the critical bit is the 2CT - twin compound tyre, I think Bridgestone have done this for years. It means the centre of the tyre is roughly same compound as the roads & the shoulders are softer for when you are cornering.

They are OK to 4k, I got 5k out of the last one, but it was really fooked at the end. I had to ride it from Southern Spain (couldn't get a new one out there in time) with about 4k on it, so I had little choice. It was fine in Spain, but a very wet & windy England wasn't so much fun.

The 180/55 is I think, a personal choice item. The taller 55 profile will turn faster than the 190/50, some go for the 190/55 as well. There is no real change in contact patch with any of the 3 tyres - tyre pressures will make much more difference. I tried it (there is an issue with 2CT 190/50 tyres fouling the chain on Tuoldo's) and loved it, so I had about 3 or 4, never looked back.

Tunuo Factory has Pirelli's on, so time will tell.

The Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier's are dual compound, well I think they are but they might have some other fancy wording for it. Its pretty obvious to see on the rear. I got 3500 miles out of one with 'spirited riding' and still plenty of life left when I sold the bike. Did Europe, track day, deluges etc all very wel.
Deffinately going on the T next.
