Yesterday I was a lucky boy. As its been 12 years since I had a bike I thought I'd go out with my mate who is right into the IAM stuff. Thought I'd get a refresher , despite me thinking, in years gone by they were all a bunch of stiffs. despite the gap I'm not stupid and had about 100,000 miles of biking experience, didn't own a car till I was 31.
Anyways, this mate decided to take me round these single track lanes, loads of gravel everywhere and damp roads. My fault but ending up running wide, locking up front and sliding off onto the grass verge. Lucky bit - some minor scratches on fairing stickers and one broken front indicator - £24 for a new one,, changed before going home because her indoors ain't too chufed with my mid life crisis.
BUT, why did this nob take me down crappy little lanes like this ( round the back of Tunbridge Wells ). You can poke your advanced motorcyclists.

My front tyre has squared off - am I right that this is likely cause of over inflation. Also nail in rear.... well chuffed.

Still lovin it

Probably because how you handle a bike on crap roads is a far better indication of your ability - anyone can do 150mph on a nice straight dual carriageway, but not many can keep to 60 on some of the more fun National Speed limit roads. Gutted for you to gave dinged the toy, but stick with the 'rubbish' roads if you can & you're riding will soon be back up to your previous standards

There are some great roads south of tunbridge wells, but we keep off the smaller lanes, too likely meeting some knob in a chelsea tractor

Wot a prick ,so called friend,he should know since he's so clever (iam) that you always let the person who(no offence intended m8)is least experianced and dare i say it slower to take the lead as they then ride at a pace they feel comfy and pick a route that they are comfy with....glad your okay and next time tell that prick to go and polish his awards and keep away from you until you are comfy with the bike oh and i'm in the middle of reading keith codes twist of the wrist 2 and i'm amazed at the amount of faith he puts on throttle control in this situation throttle control could of saved your little indescretion well worth a read m8.......

Twist of the wrist dvd is a must essential viewing ....really ,personally dont like the iam and the like, I commute every day on a er6 ,use the rsv for blasts and trackdays,I attended a police training evening ...iam ,or summat similiar cant remember what it was called ,got talking to a few guys they all seemed ok but it was certainly not for me. Spesh as the head copper had crashed his bike several times and enjoyed telling his audience we ,the taxpayer were paying for his riding errors. To understand your machine get some tracktime, tbh altho your rsv will ride those type of roads its not intended for that type of road, if he was any good as an instructor he would have been able to identify that simple fact.Perhaps you should have been on more suitable roads ?

Fair point...I'll admit i need to ride all roads to regain my skills... but a single lane rarely used road doesn't teach me much apart from going slowly around blind corners , I'll stick to lanes with a central line and where I can do 60 safely and actually lean around the corners instead of tip toeing around all the **** in the road. Went out with my mate on his SP1 on sunday and it was much more useful and fun following his lines on proper roads.

Better with the police lines on the road as they stay as wide as they can to lengthen the sight line through the bend plus your not riding the middle of the road where all the oil and deisel is, but enjoy it m8 ride at your own pace and take it easy once your comfy with the bike and yourself the rest will follow but everyone wants different things from there bikes......

My needs are fairly simple.... both knees down and wheelies through the gearbox... old but not dead ( yet )

My m8 tried the 2 knees down one but he also got his legs, shoulders and head down also lol

thats the one but he hit a sign done a commando roll and landed on his feet running right in front of me some fancy riding by me stopped him being stuck on the front of ma bike muppet lol

well, many years ago, i had a 350LC that I hadn't sold. Thought I better take it out for a run. Got my mates to follow in the motor in case it died. Riding along doing about 20, muttering cause front brakes binding - mates behind beeping me for going too slow, so I pops a wheelie lands skew whiff, front wheel breaks away and down I go. cause I'm going too slow and sticking brakes, land straight on my knee, but the best bit is land in a big sloppy pile of dog ****. mates rush over and just stand there pissing themselves. *******s. cool scar though.

bud you ever done the california superbike school as you will know was set up with this keith codes, all about throttle, body positioning, amazing the sciene behind it all.
