Here is where I strongly disagree, and having watched him all weekend, i'm going to open a can of worms........to all intensive purposes Marco simply isn't trying. He was smooth as hell, was running a gear lower through Craner than the rest, had the bike fully leant over through the Old Hairpin visibly more so than some of the other riders and was carrying corner speed 250 style when it suited him, and I really think he is simply riding at 3/4's of his ability. Stoner is good, but his isn't a whole lap better than Melandri, and lets face it, given 2 more laps, Stoner would of lapped him.
Whether this is because he is frightened of the bike biting him and hurting himself or simply because he is as pissed with Ducati as they are with him, who knows. Ducati made it public, so it appears to me Marco is making it public by showing them up on the track. Put simply, Marco has an abundance of ability, we all know he can ride, the statistics over the years don't lie, but if he was trying, and I mean really trying, and the Ducati is as much of an untamed beast that he can't set up as has been suggested, then the bloody thing would be shooting him off and over at least once every GP. Every rider crashes at some point, Rossi isn't faultless, or Stoner, or any of them, and nigh on everyone in the wet on Saturday had the bikes moving around and "moments", except Marco.
I think he is trying to ride himself out of the contract.......:roll
