Welding advice

How do i make this part stronger....its a stand made by someone but the part where the bolt goes through is getting wider

Put i piece of metal across the weak area then weld away make sure you get a good penetration, then it should be nice and strong :devious
 
just pm'd ya mate, it just needs the weld grinding out and another run putting round, no need for any bits of metal to be added mate :thumbup
 
Cheers guys.........I'm an electrician not a welder so any advice you give sounds good to me............just want it so there is NO chance of it giving way so loads of weld all round will make me happy
 
Its not a worry BB, looks like the weld has been done with home mig kit, nothing wrong with them apart from ya cant get enough amps and heat, just needs grinding back and a hot weave laying in, will get penetration and a broader throat which will add the strength mate, try and arrange to pick it up thurs and ill drop it back friday, just let me know a meeting place :thumbup:thumbup

Not really sprocker, its about the same, but not worth setting the gear up for a mild steel stand, but then again im lazy :biggrin:biggrin:thumbup
 
All over the country mate but based in St Ives Cambs, only take 10 mins, might even meet ya and do it roadside and you can take it straight away, give me a ring and we will arrange it fella :thumbup
