I am in the process of running in a new RSV1000R. I am building up the revs now I have passed the 600 mile mark. When I get to 8000 rpm the left side indicators start flashing and have to be cancelled manually. I had the bike back to the dealers today and they fiddled around with the indicator switch and the indicator relay, but the problem is still there. The dealer is going to contact Aprilia to see what they say. On the way home the problem was getting worse as the left indicators occasionally came on at lower revs, but still always came on if I went over 8000. Can anybody come up with any suggestions as to what is going on? Thanks.

Most likely to be the instrument panel.
Mine was changed under warranty for a similar issue.

Aha, the ghost in the machine. I don't think my bike is haunted.Surely any self respecting spook would have chosen a Shiver?
The instrument panel sounds a likely suspect. I will talk to the dealer about it.
Thanks for the help.

that happened to my 03 rsv, i thought it was vibration through the bars after i put a set of aftermarket bar ends on.

Hi,

Mine has started to do the same thing but only at high revs. Any ideas? Switch looks ok.

Mine is not fixed yet. My dealer has ordered a new left side switch unit. I am not convinced there is anything wrong with the switch as it looks okay. I suspect the problem is electronic rather than electrical, if that makes sense. I may well end up with a new dash, as was mentioned previously. It is obviously not an isolated problem.

My Tuono does the same when it is given a fist full. It has also been back to the dealers , who took the indicator switch to pieces gave every thing a full clean and refitted. Alas i thought ,"Job Done" , 500yrds later i got onto the A38 gave it a respectfull fistfull and the indicators switched themselves on. :-(
After speaking with a mechanic friend he thinks the problem might be with the alarm , he thinks that the alarm has a throttle position sensor which might be causing the issue, not had chance to get mine booked back in yet to see if this could be the problem (a bit hard when you are in the middle of the North Sea on a Oil Rig). But if you manage to get yours sorted please keep us posted with the outcome.

I am also back working in the North Sea, and I am heading off on holiday when I go on leave, so it will be a while before I get anything done with the bike. It does sound like this indicator thing is a problem that Aprilia should be looking at, as it it does have serious safety implications.

Very dangerous as the left indicator comes on. Took it to Max Moto and they think it is the left switch assembly.

Thanks
Raul
