Weird problem...red line & indicator

Hi All

Here's a strange one. My RSV has developed a weird fault that when you hit the red line the indicator comes on! Strange but true. I can't work out if it is when the change gear indicator comes on, or rather when you just rag it to about 10,500rpm. Happens every time in any gear.

Happened to anyone else, if so, what was it? Was it vibration or a faulty switch (or something else)?

I think i've heard of this before (maybe on AF1) and i'm sure it was a dodgy switch unit that was replaced under warranty:dunno

Well you can test if it's the gear change indicator thats setting it off by resetting it to 6000rpm and see if the indicator turns on again, if not, then thats that eliminated from the equation :thumbup

Someones got there thinking cap on tonight boys:nana

Give the pick up wiring a chk where it travels back past the swingarm and thru the protective cover..rubbing of insulation or even cooking of from the exhaust can bare the copper wire & if ya got 2 of the wires shorting, they may be the reason for the false signal...ohter than that..chances are a dodgy pick up.

Scuse this fool (me) for rattling on about speedo pickup and not the camshaft pickup...scoty sounds right with this (cam)pickup being dodgy. :thumbup

Hi, I had the exactly the same problem with my boldor, they thought it was the clocks but ended up being the switch that cured the fault. Rob
