Warming up

Do you start the bike then get your gear in thus allowing the bike to warm up or just start it and ride off? Used to warm up older carbed bikes but is this required on the tuono?

It would say in the manual i suppose but popular opnion these days is to start it and ride sensibly till it gets above 60 degrees

The wifes Tnt manual actually says that and in no way should the bike be idled on its side stand as there will be a lack of oil to the last cylinder

I let Andiamo warm up until 40C then go. Less hiccoughs and easier to giddyup that way.

ha it depends where you live, if i started mine up and got geared up, it'd be gone before i got me boots on..lol friggin chav's..

Just get on and go, but take it easy till everything's warmed up. Inc the tyres :)

Pikeman I think you said on the earlier thread that you were looking at 1st Gen Tuoldo which has a kinda choke on the handlebar. I find mine needs a little bit of warming up 1st before riding off as it just makes it a little bit easier to ride. So I get mine out of the agarge and start it up, then put my gear on and by the time I've done that its ready to ride. I just kinda leave it on choke at about 1500 to 2000 revs then adjust the handlebar choke thing until its fully warmed up as I'm riding to the meet point about mile away.

I always start mine on the Abba stand (not the sidestand) from cold, leave it idling while I put me lid and gloves on, wheel it out the garage and close the door. By then it's at at least 40degC (T's warm up very quickly) and I ride off, taking it easy for the first few miles.

By then it's at at least 40degC (T's warm up very quickly) and I try and ride off, realise I've forgotten to take it off the Abba stand and have just been revving it outside my house for half hour. Its really good cos I can really crank the throttle back when I'm sat revving it on my hardstanding outside my house.

Gilo that must really impress the neighbours ;)

Started mine for the 1st time in about 10 weeks (last time we went out Giles) and it started up 1st push of the starter. Oh the wonders of Optimates

The auld start / pit oan helmet n gloves / shut garage door / flip nosey neighbour the finger / move off routine aye works fur me

I jumped on mine, started it and road off, changed into second and the rear locked solid. It lifted an inch wide by 6" long strip of that bitumastic joint stuff and I had to use a wood chisel to get it off the tyre. I let it warm up now, at least 60C.

Havn't ridden / started mine for 6 weeks. Damn I'm missing it :bawling

same here ... mine's sat on Abba stand (**** name for great product) and I keep thinking that if I do fire her up ... the exhaust will suffer and I will achieve nothing other than a grin and a garage full of fumes.

No the nooooo ya fud, it's even a bit to late fir me to piss ma neebs off.

Spray some of the scotoil FC50 whatever it is down the exhaust ...................................
as with the bike outer it protects so does the same on the inside of exhast cans.

It also keeps the damp away from the metal and they DO last a bit longer
