Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'm looking to buy a Gen 1 RSV Mille, preferably R version, in good condition and I will travel for the right bike so please message, call me on 07815 688361 or email [email protected],
Thanks,
John.

I live locally to you ! I have just bought a rsv r 2001 and am working though it at the moment (it's not for sale) !

I am uprating the exhaust

Got 57mm injectors

The bike needed the suspension serviced, very dirty and seized

As we're the wheel bearings...

Got a copy of the brochure from ebay

Found it on Gumtree and the seller in St Albans £2800, you have to be quick ! The pound being so low means that there are lots of European dealers buying the bikes. That and the breakers !
He recons he can make 50% profit on a rsv r bought for £2800 !

Thanks very much for your reply and advice, much appreciated, if I can't find an R version I will almost certainly get a regular Gen 1 Mille, I'm trying to go to look at a modified one on Saturday, not much history with it but has Ohlins rear shock, twin akrapovic exhaust, open airbox, factory pro eprom and power commander. Good luck with your restoration project! If I get one we should meet up in the summer to compare notes,
John.

With any 16 year old bike , although lowish miles will need going through ! It's not really a restoration it's getting everything to work how it should when new. The crappy eu restrictions that make any engine a pain in the arse, especially twins. Suspension needs fresh oil , reagassing and perhaps 20 years of suspension knowledge. My bike had some of the upgrades years ago.

It had the jolly moto style airbox delete, but as usual the crappy foam gets old and disintegrates. The fuel lines get old and ethanol attacked and are waiting to leak, these are all being replaced....tyres are 8 years old and not worn but they are heading to the scrap bin (the mille is known for hating part worn tyres which ruin the ride)

Yes let's meet in the summer if we get one this year !

I'm used to old bikes and cars, like you say the low milers often want more attention than those that are regularly used, I'm doing up a 1999 blade at the moment, lots to do! The RSV I'm going to look at has a 'pipercross hook and loop open filter with carbon fibre base plate' which I presume will be something like the one you have pictured? Whereabouts are you? I'm in Stotfold, SG5 4EN,
John.

Stevenage....

You won't believe the size of the original stupid airbox under the tank. All about keep the bike super quiet for eu noise tests, 80% of the fuel tank is airbox lol
Its the first part you throw out, the second part is the original exhaust silencer which weighs 14kg or so, it's a great boat anchor, useful at last (eu crap again)
The bike when built has a eu designed hole in the power at 4,000 to 6000 rpm, the third thing you get rid of is the eu ecu for one that gives a normal powerband....

Hi there

I'm selling mine very soon. It's an 02, had all of the mods; collector pipe, Airbox, chip, Oberon clutch, gearing, fireblade side stand, clear indicators, AP rearsets, and possibly some other Ines I've forgotten

Aprilia performance have done work on it in the 2 years I've had it, so you can checkup on it. It's currently got straight bars on ( which I was going to switch back to clip ins) hence not quite being ready for sale

Pm me if you'd like to know more

Also comes with a private plate ending RSB

It's not an r , an r is more expensive say £500 -£800 , you said you prefer an r.....that price looks good and not far....
Have you got a van to pick up the bike ? Because I have one if needed...

Thanks for the info; I would prefer an R but I am happy to look at the Mille's too - It does come down to price and availability,

Thanks for the offer ref the van, I might need it!

No way will you find a good gen 1 rsvr for under £2k in 2017. Prices are on the rise like all motorcycles (20% inflation) because of foreign buyers buying the best bikes (ie the specials haga / edwards / SP / nera) and very good condition original low mileage bikes. The pounds 30% drop against the euro makes the bikes very cheap compared to European prices....

You can see the prices are quite strong on the german version but not ebay !

(Up in the frozen impoverished north things might be different !) :pirate

One of 2 I bought late last year for £1800, from down were the soft southerners live:devious

A sorted Gen 1 with sensible miles will fetch ~ £3k depending on Year etc. The 03 with radials is the most sought after - prices around £3.5k

Look on the aprilia performance group on Facebook and elsewhere

I know what they are worth, been buying, selling and breaking them for 15 years. What I said was, you can get good one for sub 2k. The one in the picture was a late 02 16000 miles and service history.
