First, I live in Norway and I'm a n00b. I've only owned a CBR600 99' (which was a lot of fun) and the only mechanics I've ever done was change the chain and sprockets.

I sold the CbR a while ago and now want to buy a Mille, but what should I look for in terms of crap ownership? This is the bike btw:

It's a 2002 Mille RSV. The price tag is about $12,000 (yes it's f**in steep but this is Norway, the last communist state with a monarchy running...)

All posts will be greatly appreciated,
Cheers,

that looks really clean mate . i'm not an expert on techy stuff but i would just check for history etc how many miles has it done ?

in my experience if a bike looks like its been looked after it normally has ,i do alot myself oil changes etc which means i have no dealer stamps after warranty expired but i keep all my oil receipts and things like that to show when i sell and if you looked at my bike you would see instantly that its been cared for . personally dont trust dealers thats why i do it myself that way i know its been done properly .

lads on here are better than me for mechanical stuff to tell you .

one more thing ,get a torque wrench as loads over tighten stuff and strip threads as i did thats why i got one ;-)

good luck they are great bikes mate ............

Hi, thanks for replying :)

Just got a mail from the seller (who's selling it for a friend) and he says it hasn't been used for 4 years and he can document services up till 7500km (it has 20 000km on it). Hope it hasn't stood still for all these years though, that can't be good(?).

Looks like a very clean bike, I agree, and I might take it in my care soon. Least I hope so, need to persuade the missus that this is a very though over and smart investment that will only lead to good things :pirate (just had to put the pirate in there, what an awesome emoticon!)

I'll fill you in on my progress and hopefully I can join this forum full time soon!

i thing 20,000 is roughly 12,200 miles . the big service on these are at 9000 miles i think on that model and 12000 miles on mk 2 ? . this being the case the valve clearances will need checking etc (big service)

pm spoonz on here he is very helpfull and will be more factual than me
