I took a V4 APRC Tuono out for a test ride today, and here are my thoughts:

It's f*cking awesome! :thumbup

The indicator switch is ***** :thumbdown

The gearbox is sweet :thumbup

The clutch lever kind of 'grabbed' on downshifts :thumbdown

The quickshifter is brilliant :thumbup

The exhaust note is addictive, a real growl from about 7000 RPM :thumbup

The seat is too hard, and you slip forward on it too :thumbdown

The engine is, well it's just absolutely incredible, soooo powerful :thumbup

The gear position indicator is a welcome addition :thumbup

The wheelie control is, erm, neccessary! :thumbup

All the other electronic trickery will take some getting used to :eek

Try one - you'll be blown away! :crazy

I'd have one if money was no object, but it is (!) and they're bloody expensive.

The sales chappie in the shop reckoned they'd sold the black ones and the yellow ones but none of the silver ones, and the APRC models were far more popular than the standard ones.

bay.....got a lovley Italian man after it too......not sure i will sell it yet lol...1050 is going though!!!

By the way Sparky - the indicator switch is ****. The seat beds in and gets better and the slipper clutch causes the strange feeling through the clutch lever and is nothing to worry about. Bang it down the pre-requisite number of gears and dump it - the slipper does the rest :)

Cheers Moz I didn't know that :thumbup

I was under the impression that gen2 V2's had slipper clutches as standard - obviously not! :dunno

The V2T has PPC (Pneumatic Power Clutch), Aprilia's version of a slipper clutch. I don't recall exactly how it works, but it reduces the chance of rear wheel lock-up under high rev downshifting, the same as a normal slipper clutch.

Cheers Gilo, good stuff. :thumbup

I was pretty sure they had some kind of slipper without necessarily being the real thing. I did a track day at Snetterton recently and had the rear tyre chirping a few times, without a slipper it would have been locking up all over the place!

Mozv4r......well lets see a picture then! im not that worrid really as standard one is pretty okish lol still sounds bloody ace!! the akra one and arrow ones i have seen looked ***** lol

I guess you won't want this then. Sounds much better than standard and better than the Akky. E marked with removable baffle officer...

Neil,

My seat is off an RSV4 Factory as I was after a more comfortable option. Its marginally more comfortable but the other bonus is that the yellow on the oem seat gets ******* minging really quickly with dark marks that don't come out easily so I removed it early and replaced it with an all black seat instead.

Elvin,

Whereabouts in Oxfordshire are you? I am near Witney so by all means come and look at the Arrow. It's a lovely exhaust and would suit an all black or black & silver bike well. Be quick cos I need a quick sale (bills to pay) so will list it on eBay soonest if there is no forum interest.
