V4 1000 Tuono not idling

I just went for my first ride of the year on my 2012 Tuono V4 1000 and it won't idle and keeps stalling. Apart from that, it seems fine - it pulls like a train under acceleration without a hint of any problems but stalls when I come to a standstill and won't idle when I start it again.

It had a full service at an Aprilia dealer in August last year and I haven't ridden it since then. I've had it for 4 years and it has always been fine after being left over the winter. It's kept in a dry garage with an Optimate battery charger.

Is the idle adjustable or is this all programmed into the ECU?

Excuse me talking to myself, but I found out what the problem was and I thought I'd post an explanation in case anyone else has a similar issue...

It was a simple as filling the tank with fresh E5 fuel. Now it's running like a dream. This winter was the first time I'd left it for 6 months with E10 fuel in the tank and I guess the horror stories about E10 fuel absorbing water over the winter are true.

Replace the battery with a new fully charged one common fault

My bike is kept on an Optimate charger when it's not in use so the battery is always good. If you haven't got one it costs about the same as a new battery and saves all kinds of grief if you aren't using your bike on a daily basis.
