Hi, this is something that I've been wanting to ask but wasn't sure wether my bike has an issue or it's normal.

I've only had my RSV '00 since february and before that I rode mainly japanese bikes but I've noticed I have to countersteer and shift my butt off the seat to get it to corner fast where previously on a japanese bike all I had to do is point and go, only had to hang off when at mucho speed.

So I am not sure if my bike has an issue which causes it to understeer or is it a normal RSV thing to have to shift weight and hang off a little even when going around a city round-about or sweeping bend?

When I followed a friend on his ZX-10R he was able to just lean the bike and stay sat in the middle to corner so I am a little confused.

It sounds like an issue to me as mine steers pretty quick and will drop in easily even at low speeds. Starting with easiest first is the front tyre up to pressure and is it the correct profile, do you have a steering damper and if so is it moving properly or maybe sticking? Then maybe just as simple as bad set up i suppose, have you done a decent suspension set up as the rsv really benefits from a bit of tailoring but what your describing sounds more like a problem than just set-up preference.

Maybe someone has messed around with the ride height or steering, have a look at your forks, how many rings are showing above the top yoke?

I'm sure more knowledgable types will be along soon.

hi there - i have a 57 plate rsv factory - which comes with the pirelli supa dragon corsa tyres - really struggled with these - thought it was me at first new bike atc as i still have fireblade - however just last week - put some bridgestone bt014's on , as used them on blade for 5 yrs - fantastic all round tyre - maybe worth a look into ??
hope this may help

sorry - got interupted - what i was going to say is that the pirelli tyres just wanted to stand up all the time cornering - with the bridgestones on it rolls over nice and smooth - feels solid on the front end too -- - you might not be able to get the 014's anymore as there now replaced with th bt016

Ahhh I see, yes my RSV came with Pirelli boots on it and my previous bike (Hayabusa) had its own model Bridgestone, I will see about changing tyre make next time I need tyres.

Although I gotta say that I've enjoyed the all-round performance of the Pirelli in the dry and wet.

I'll poke 'round FWR in Kennington and have a chat with the tyre guys soon, cheers all.
