Underseat exhaust?

There is probably no underseat exhausts available for mille (04->) so I'm thinking of making me some :Oo

Reasons why not to do it?
Reasons why to do it?
Ideas how to do it the right way?
Any ideas for good cans?
Has anyone done it before - pics?

When it comes to youtube soundsamples these MIVV GP cans seem to be nice. Short enought to fit under the seat and nice low sound. X-cones look also nice and would fit my theme. Just dont know if those are any good. I understood that GPs are a bit difficult silencers to set up correctly.

ps. This is also a "Hello there! I'm newbie here!" -post :)

I was riding a Ducati before and now I've got a 05 (probably 04 model) Mille. Its already naked due to a fire damage but now its kinda too fighter...ish for my taste. I'm going for some kind of a neocaferacer -look. Some classic parts with a modern twist. Im planning to make a new tail section / fairing anyway so some modding to make this underseat exhaust to fit does not scare me. T this point I'm still trying to decide what to do with my baby so all ideas and warnings are welcome.

Edit: Yes. The plan is to go for underseat silencers. Not high mount.

Welcome freq - just do it, I say. Sounds like you've got some great plans, can't wait to see the pics. While you're at it, buy that single sided swingarm kit on ebay. I can't afford it but c'mon, somebody on here should have it!

Sorry Sabre, the pic on your post hadn't come up when I was doing mine. ***** that I am :laugh

Nothing wrong with double posting loveliness though :D

Welcome on board freq :thumbup any pics of the current fighter look you have?

Damn now i gotta find a way to get that under seat exhaust!!! the single swingarm is good looking too!

Sorry FREQ. Iphone key poking. :dowhat

I would flick the V but no one has made a doo daa for that, thats why. :dunno

Hugs... Fx

Thanks for the warm welcome guys :bigsmile

Some sweeeet setups in those pics above. I wonder what type of silencers they have got hidden inside the tail. Hopefully my bike won't end up looking like a pos when compared to those.

Tough I'd love to have that single sided swingarm I do have to think about my bank account while building this project. That kinda makes me stuck with this normal swingarm and most likely just have to bend the pipes around it. All this bending of course makes me worried about restricting the pipe too much. That's just something I have to figure out after I find the right silencers and start to fit those into place. Hopefully it'll work out.

Unless the tail ends up looking way too modern I'm probably going for a basic round headlight. Just to get that "classic" look to the front. Any ideas for good & bright headlights that are not too "deep"? I dont want it to stick out from the side profile. Then just some rizoma accessories like grips and fluid tanks etc. And some work.. huh :D

I promise to post pics if the result doesn't end up to be too ugly :D

Now I only need to find the right parts... All help and ideas are appreciated.

Hey man! Flick you too :nana

Its all good. Had me a laugh :biggrin

Yo Freq...

I am knocking up Fighter now, 06 Tuono that I grabbed from a salvage yard. Rear end is gone, subframe and panels. So... having one made. Mad Max kinda style. Short, high but still got a bird perch.

But front is giving me a head ache, LOTS of custom **** on the web. Did a mock up last week with a old mag and glue but it rained...:jack

Hey Flick. You cant go wrong if you do it the MadMax style :)

I was concidering a post apocalyptic/madmax/ratbike before I got my mind set on this modern cafe racer idea.

Have you seen Ducati Monster S4RS Black Dogo? Theres better pics somewhere in the internet. Expensive ratbike. Huh. I've seen that sidemounted headlights -idea used on some nice monster at Ducatimonster.org. Sorry. Ducati links on Aprilia forum.. but hey. Italian V's...

Theres a bunch of bikes that has some usable ideas tough they are not exactly what I'd build for myself. ie. Suzuki fighter, Phillippe Starks concept bike (I want that instrument panel) and Fight machines (whats that exhaust & silencer in that speed triple in the center of the page? nice!)

Oh yes, back to the subject: Im still hoping to get some suggestions about what silencers I should use on my project. I dig those mv agusta pipes that laser has for some bikes but they are probably no good for milles 100cc v twin. Besides the sound is a major factor. Starting up my RSV and hearing the noise of it echo thru the parking hall in the mornings gives me a huge grin. Dont want to lose that. It makes my ride to work so much enjoyable :D

btw. Heres a small Mad Max bonus for all of you post apocalyptic ratbike lovers: The Post-Apocalyptic Young Gentleman’s Motor Club & Mad Max bikes

Freq. Thanks for that excellent PAYGclub link. My mate's already got several suitable candidates in his garage (and I've owned a few before I went all gooey over Aprilias).
BTW single-sided swing arm enthusiasts, just had a poke about on the web and it looks like that Aprilia one-sider is from a Futura rather than a Falco, although I stand to be corrected as ever.
The bloke selling his on e-scam says it fits straight onto an RSV. Anone know if this is right? Does it need his modded exhaust collector because the Futura is underseat pipes?
Can't afford his set-up at the moment but would be a cool mod to think about in the future.

I love single sided swing arms.

Something like this one from a 748 on the RSV would be nice. :inlove

That's one sexy bit of alloy - but what's that hideous bit of discoloured plastic on it? Looks like something that fell off my Grannie's surgical appliance.
