tyres

Michelin Pilot Sport or Michelin Pilot Power would be my choice. The new Bridgestone BT016 is an excellent tyre by all reports but i doubt you'd get more than 2000 miles out it

For spirited sunny day runs its closer to 1000m on rear and 2000 on front

I actually ride my bikes for commuting 135 miles round trip, and as well as my jap plodder, I now have a bright yellow toy to get me to work in a far better mood.
I need miles out my tyres, and lots of miles, I ride 27 miles of NSL single carriaway, 27 miles of NSL dual carriageway and motorway with 12 miles of London, so I need a hard centre with a sticky edge. I now run Michelin Road Pilot 2 on my plodder, and I read here that someone runs Bridgestones 016, which is meant to be a multi-compound tyre.
Any suggestions?

Pilot Road 2 would probably be a good choice for your RSV too, hear a lot of good things about the grip and mileage they give....

Sergi, i can recommend Michelin Pilot Sports. They are an excellent tyre that was a factory fitment on RSVR's in 2004/5. Excellent grip and wear on the road. I fitted a set last year to go the Alps and had total confidence in them wet or dry. My rear has done 4000 miles and has still has a bit to go yet.

They may not have the ultimate grip of the latest generation tyres as Hottrout says, but for road riding with excellent mileage and grip they are brilliant. The latest Pilot Sports are the same compound now as the new Michelin Pilot Powers

£125 a pair :thumbup

Thanks legs, it looks like a very good option. What are the essentials to go to the alps? I've got the paper work bits plus insurance and sat nav. Also checked some of the best rutes in the are I am going. I'm thinking more in terms on chain lube, gaffer tape and all those bits. I'll be going to hotels so no tend!!
Cheers

Sergi, sat nav, back up small map, puncture repair kit, Euro breakdown, spare key and alarm blip, credit card, a change of underwear, water, bike documents and your shades.

Stay in a F1 hotel on the way down as they are mega cheap and clean. Troyes or Dijon are good stopovers for the first day. Take the N71 from Troyes to Dijon and take the N5 from Dijon to Geneva. I stopped in Annecy, very picturesque with loads of restaurants and bars. We used it as a base and travelled all over from there :thumbup

Excellent :thumbup

Just fitted Dunlop Gp's after years of being on Racetechs [fantastic tyre] Managed to scrub the Dunlop's in today. What a tyre very impresed as sticky as the racetechs good feedback and being a multi-compound tyre they should last a bit longer, well let's hope so
