slow old fart with a tight wallet needs a new set of tyres for his 04 Tuono, so what we thinking people?
I hope to be doing a track day in the future so looking for a reasonable tyre with good wear.
Basically i want it all, for naff all. :)

I'll be needing tyres for my Gen 2 in about 1000 miles so thinking the same.

I love Bridgestone BT016s, except they wear friggin' quick. A lot of people swear by BT023's and I suspect they are a good way to go, just not sure I can bite the bullet and fit sports touring tyres (even though I know it's a wanky reason).

I'm tempted by Michelin Power Pures, mainly 'cos they are about the lightest tyres about and I have a bit of a thing about light weight, especially when it's rotating weight.

Current Dunlops are meant to be good too.

Choices choices....

Dunlop Qual 2s fur me at the moment. Rate them as pretty good for wear an def got much mair milage oot them than previous. Wid say grips is good wi plenty feel and gie plenty confidence in the wet as weel. Think thir superceeded noo tho.

aka & mkd - got dunlop qual 2's on mine & had no probs even when grounding the sidestand :devil:thumbup

Mate of mine has Pilot Road 2's on his 08 FZ1 and it handles like a dream, no chicken strips and bloody good mileage. Thats what I'm getting when my corsa 3's are finished, which I must say are nice, but wear out a bit too quickly. Could be the heavy right hand there tho

I've got the Power Pures. Fitted them towards the end of last year and got in a trackday on them at Donnington. Grip great, wear looks like it will be very good compared to the Dunlops I had before. Can't comment too much on their effect on handling cos at the same time also I dropped from a 190 to a 180 rear, which is fantastic :thumbup

Oh, and they were £199 fitted to the bike

i have Pirrelli Diablos on at the moment but the rear is trashed, looks like it's been well scrubbed on a track day at the edges of the rear.

Had a chat with a bloke who worked for Michelin tyres the other day about replacement of my 2CT's - these ones....

The Power Pures are the 'new' upgrade of the 2CT's.

Michelin man was very much of the opinion that the 2CT's will have better turn-in than the Pures.

Having had 2 sets of 2CT's, one on the RSV the other on the T I think I'll stick with the 2CT's - they're great tyres I reckon (rear has done nearly 5k and a trackday) and should be on offer seeing as the Pures are the new replacement.

I run Michelin 2CT's as Maldroid.
I have have about 4 sets now on both bikes, I absolutely love them, I run 180/55 rear and have never had a problem, roughly 4k out of a rear and a new front with every other rear, this is a mix of fast road, trackdays and Euro touring.

Factory was delivered with Pirelli's - lots of grip, but only lasted about 1500 miles.

Liz's bike is fitted with BT023's and it handles fine, AF1Windy also runs on the BT023's and he is as quick as anyone I know, so they aren't short of grip.

The 2CT is a tall tyre, when you first fit them it feels as if the bike falls over into corners but you soon stop noticing. The BT023 is more progressive having a rounder profile.

It's your call - just don't waste money on a 190, the Aprilia handles much sweeter on a 180 and turns in better.

Just checked a local dealer for pirces, BT023 pair £205 delivered (or fitted) 2CT pair £209. nowt in it.

I'm waiting for mine to wear out and then taking it to the nearest tyre deal I can find and just getting them replaced with hopefully Michelin Pilot Road or Dunlop Sportsmax Roadsmart although I'd go for Avons which are getting a good write up at the mo. Had a bad episode on Metzlers where back end slipped out and ended up on the other side of the road. Luckily no cars coming the other way but kinda put me off them after that.

Them Bt023's are mad. Most love em but they've had bad press with a fair few complaining they give up on anything other than clean dry roads. Slightest bit of dust or grit and they slide apparently. My mate had a crash with them and reckons he was only leaning slightly and they just washed from under him. Never had a problem Bridgestones or Dunlops meself that's why I stick with em.

Dunlops for me I think now I've had a bit of a look. Not sure whether to do for the Sportsmart or Roadsmart. just found a company who will come to my house and fit them. Might give Aka_Gilo a call as he's due for tyres soon and see if he fancies having a set fitted as well and maybe can get a deal going.

Guys! New Dunlop Sportsmart are unbeatable. Voted best tyre by MCN, Fast bike and many others.........not cheap but the best for fast road and occasional track.

I have used them all and can confirm that these tyres are in a totally different league!!!

Thats just decided which ones I get. Someone came into my office the other day and said exactly the same thing.
