Tyre sizes?

Some advice would be appreciated guys...I'm currently in need of a front tyre on my Mille (road). I'm running 190/50 and 120/60 combo on Pilot Powers, I see the recommended size according to my manual is a 120/70 front tyre...should I go with the 70 or keep the 60? I mostly do daily riding and the odd track day.

120/70 and 190/50 / or 190/55 suit the mille just fine.
120/60..never seen that used on the rsv
Get some Metzelers dude
ck

Heard of people fitting a 60 profile front instead of a 70 before on other bikes. The logic behind it is that the reduction in sidewall pulls the tyre profile round and makes the front steer a little quicker. The truth is you would just about notice it on the road (maybe) The down side is that you are unlikely to use the full width of the 60 due to that profile change, I would personally stick to the 70 (unless you like changing direction very quickly all the time ;-)

are the M5s that good ... getting new hoops Saturday and was going for pilot road 2s again

Mate I run a 180 on the back of my 02 Mille. Changed the steering instantly. Flicks around easily now even for a big bike and a fat lad like me. Qualifier RR's are my choice but don't get caught in the rain!!

I also run 180/55 on my '05' Factory, the bike steers beautifully. I can highly recommend Dunlop SportSmarts for road & track ;-)

Thats handy. I`ve got a set of bt016`a and a set of sc1/sc2 supercorsas with 180/55 rears from the R6 :D

Nothing wrong with qualifier RR's in rain mate. I rode back from Tamworth to Lincolnshire today in the howling and slammed the knee a few times at roundabouts...... its style and smooth riding that helps ;-) (plus fluke and picking the corners with no oil etc...)

lol, you know as well as i do it is all about having confidence and being relaxed. if you tense up and panick you will fall off especially in the rain. all you have to do is adjust your style accordingly. Yes some tyres are better than others and NO way would i entertain power pures in the rain as i have no confidence in them, but in reality all top end tyres are almost as good in the wet as in the dry if you ride accordingly. ;-)

i run 190/55 on my mille. the 180/55 aren't wide enough for me. i found myself getting all the way to the edge even in the city. maybe i'm going too fast, who knows?

THats the same as i am going for next as i am finding that i run the beading leaving nothing for any sliding. I am going to fit the 190 rear to counteract otherwise it may get a bit to hmmmmm at some point lol.

Took mine for its first proper ride today, and realised the front diablo is shaped like a 50p! so I`m thinking of fitting the 180/55 set of SC scrubs I have left in the garage from the R6, Its got a 19/50 on it at the mo, but its flat as a pancake. I usually get to the edge of my front and rear tires, you reckon it would actually be an issue on the rear??

What i have found is that with the 180 rear i sit on the beading and not on the tyre but the front has approx 1-2mm to the bead. fitting the 190 would bring them even and then allow for any slides that can occur. at the mo i have no room for error as i am alsmost flat to the floor. i have never needed to go so low on any bike before but the rsv being so big needs to be brought down as i am not very tall.
