Hi, just wondered if any one local can change tyres.

My rear tyre is shot and I need to change. Got a set of part worn ones that I have on my old bike, like new really. Just been told by my local tyre place he wants £25 per wheel as I can not take the wheels off as my brother in law has my paddock stands and using them.

Any ideas? this is going to cost me £50 to put some part worns on. shocking

thats expensive.

try somewhere like ATS im sure some have facilities to do bike tires, they wont be as much as £25, give them a call.

I know someone who charges £10 a wheel and they even take the wheel off the bike to do it themselves.

:thumbup

I do my own save your money and buy the stuff you need you will get all the stuff you need from busters or m&p its not hard and will pay for it self in no time at all

Abba do kits for this. bead breaking and balancing equipment.

will prob cost a few hundred quid to get set up and of course you need decent torque wrench and wheel removal tools.

I would do this myself but for the amount of times that it would get used i cant justify spending that sort of money.

Where abouts in Wilts are you?:dunno

Tried Bike treads in Swindon? (or even worth giving George Whites a shout)

TT

im in Swindon, £25 per wheel is for Bike tread.
Been told this is because im suppliing the tyres and the wheels on the bike!
I've had a part worn before from them it was £15 fitting. shocking.

Might just buy a new one and leave theses in the garage for a rainy day

Garv, I'm not really surprised if you're asking them to take the wheels off as well - who wants to get involved in all that for £20 or whatever? Get your brother in law to pay up or give you your stands back!
These blokes said they'd do loose wheels for a few quid - they're about 25 minutes south of you. They ride bikes and seem helpful - did a puncture for me and it was pretty cheap.http://www.top-stop.gb.com/
