Hi new member but would like some advice on tyres that suit the RSV 1000 R best and what the best gaering would be i currentl hav a 2007 RSV, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi ya ive just got some new bridge stone s20 only had them a few weeks and just fine running them in seem to have a lot of grip but they are very slippery when new i run standard gearing but thinking of running diferent front sproket think 1 down for quicker acceleration hope this helps
the new pirelli corsa is serposed to be very grippy as well nearly went for them

Need to know a lot more about how you ride, what roads you pick, how much winter riding will you do, will you commute on motorway etc.

There is no one right answer.

hey, Ive always used pirelli diablos. Corsa's on front, standards on rear are fine for the roads.
Here in bonnie scotland theres lots of great slow and fast twistie roads. Which is 90% of the roads we're run on
I like to run at quite a fast pace and found these are best tyres for feel. Sorry no winter riding so dont what like when really cold.

When i had my first mille i messed about with the gearing , 1 down on front 2 up rear which makes great diff.
but that one had 18 litre fuel tank. now ive got 03 rsvr these have 15 litre tank.
so the more you mess with gearing higher it revs , more fuel u will use. then you to start planning fuel stops better
Up here theres alot of running about in the middle of nowhere. so ive just dropped down 1 on front which also gives noticeable diff.

So if your never far from petrol station goes nuts with gearing just be ready to hang on to her bit tighter more so 1st and 2nd gear.
and buy good sticky tyres. My m8 just bought a rsvr last week and got a pair of tyres supplied with deal we laughed when we looked them
"adrenos" i think they were called. Ithought they would b better being made into swings for the kids:dunno hope this helps a little

+1

Same tire set up dropped 1 on front sprocket. I found standard gearing too tall for me. Pulls much nicer in traffic.

I'm about to run a pair of Diablo DC3's, any info or shall I wait and see ?

Are you on about Diablo Corsa 3's?

If you are they are really good, dual compound, or they say tri- compound on the back. Basically the rear is harder in the centre but softer on the edges. Out and out sports tire. I think that they have been superseded now by the Diablo Rosso Corsa, or that is just the new name for them. Any road, if you have Diablo Corsa 3's then you won't be disappointed with them, except maybe on wear as they are soft. Basically a track day tire for the road. I found them brilliant but I found that the rear wore down quite quick so I had corsa 3 on the front and just a normal diablo on the rear. I now have rosso 2's all round which superseded the diablo/ But Corsa 3's are really good.

Yeap, it's the Diablo rosso corsa that I've had to order. DC3's no longer exist. Can't wait to try them !

Hi, i have a RSVR 09 (so same thing) i put -1 front sprocket on and +2 on the back. Found it to aggressive on tight B road corners and lost around 20-25mph top end, so went back to the standard front this is far better for smother control on tighter twisty's if this is your thing, the thing with only changing the front is the chain has less surface area to go round more bunching up and slightly more ware (but easier to swap out) I now run Diablo Rosso Corsa's and there really good ! No slip and loads of feed back.

On that note dose anyone ?????? Have a problem with shredding the back tyres ?? I had Bridgestone 016's and done the back tyre in 1300 miles (all round not just the middle lol) it just rolled all the rubber off (no track days, just haven't had the chance) suspension set up properly by MCT. on the pirellis (on a more spirited ride's) the surface ripples i can see the difference in the compounds and the tread lines chunk up ?? this shouldn't happen i have had bikes recently with more power and they don't have this problem ? Any ideas??

yeah i thought i would be economical and save £50 or something getting diablos, not sure i ever got past the new tyres wearing in feeling before the back one was showing wires...
using a pilot road on the back now and its not as bad, already lasted 2000 miles and has plenty of tread left, several really long rolling burnouts yesterday thanks to the lovely weather but to be fair i was giving it some stick :devious

best tyres i ever had are michelin pilot powers, try to go with a normal one up front and 2ct at the back as the fronts last twice as long for me anyway :biggrin
oh im an all year rider so if they cant hack the cold & wet im just not interested.. *cough* diablos..

Just a thought but if you knocking tyres out a bit too quick have a look at your pressures and check them against the manufacturers guide not aprilia. I had rosso corsa on my R1 and they was ok nothing to shout about. But I'm running my normal choice on the Ape which are Interacts god they're good in the dry but your knackered in the wet, oh and they don't last long either lol.

Hi all, At risk of highjacking original thread.

Thanks Mr Wolfy that's a froggy *cough* you have there lol, but i take your point about the harder compound miche's, looking at other peoples posts it seems a few have harder rears and soft fronts i might give this a go.

Bluejob, Yep seems every one has a different opinion about pressures im running 36F 40R as recommended directly from pirelli but even then if your only a few psi off (for personal preference) 1300 mile on the bridgestone is crap, i have run these same tyers on GSXR 1000 K8, GSXR 750 K5, and a speed triple *cough* anyway i was getting around 3k out a rear (if no track use) and as nice as the RSVR is they don't lay down that much power ?

I can tell you for nothing my Interacts took a pounding on my last trackday so power out of my Gen2 isn't low.
