Two weeks in

Hi all
Two weeks into 04 ownership now and still in love, despite the rain and the inordinate amount of steam emitting from between my legs when in traffic.
A few observations/questions though -when cold, 1st to 2nd is more than a tad stiff, more like kick it and hope, sometimes in vain. The neutral situation is extreme, and having a 916 I'm quite familiar with the down from 2nd only approach, but the Mille is sometimes impossible, in that she won't kick up into 2nd when stationary, so I can't do the dance. So.
I will do the jet mod as soon as time allows. But will this ease my shift problems? Clutch doesn't act like it has air in it, but I suppose a bleed wouldn't do any harm. The only other thing I can think of is the clutch lever travel, which I'd brought in due to shortish fingers. I haven't worked out the angles but I'm sure the piston must be fully depressed when the lever is at the bar.
Any other suggestions, exp[eriences? Funny thing is, I don't really mind any of the above, it's all worth it.

is only found after an indelicatedance down from second

I could say the same about the wifes 08 factory, but once its warm its no bother

And her bike should have the differnt jet already

Im assuming as it gets better when warm its an oil thing with the extreme cold

Interested to see what comes of yours

You need to bleed your clutch simply using the bleed nipple on the clutch master cylinder next to the lever. It's a common problem on 04 onwards RSVR and Factory. Simply open the bleed nipple, gently pull in the lever the close the bleed nipple. Repeat twice more. Just put some rags around any close bodywork.

As for the jet mod, your 04 already has the smaller jet i believe

Wot Legs said, I lived with it for a while thinking that was what they were like, then bled it properly from the master cylinder & made it much better. Still not Jap easy & I still hook neutral before I stop, but way better.

Hi I had something similar with my04 but the jet mod, o4 does not have modded jet, helped a lot. Had a leak on the master cylinder and once that was done have never had the problem since. Never had the gear problem you mentioned.

Regards Steve

Hi Is that a deffo on the jet mod for an 04 then? Nudder thing - I pulled the clutch biting point in a bit at the lever (short fingers) and it seems to affect the inward travel of the piston, - might explain the sticky gear changes. Any experiences anyone?
cheers

Hi Steve - I have an 02 Mille with a weeping clutch master - how did you sort yours, mate? Thanks.
