Tuono misfires and dies when hot, please help!!!

Hi everybody,

I am due to go on holiday to tour Scotland this Sunday, but cannot get to grips with my Gen II (2007)Tuono.
When it is cold it runs sweet, however when it will warm up to over 80 degrees, it starts cutting out, dies especially under acceleration. I can hear misfire some times (small bang from airbox). The weird thing is that when I turn ignition off and onn the issue dissapears for couple of hundred yards and then comes back. When it cools down it is sweet again until worms up... I checked all el. connections, found that front cylinder plug cap was broken (probably by me wrenching it off the plug) I replaced it with 5kohm resistor cap from NGK. No change. Coils measure 0.5 kOhm on primary (both the same) and 5.5 MOhm on secondary (both the same within 0.02MOhm) I really got no idea what can cause it. I need the bike ready for Sunday :(

Please, any ideas anyone?

Does anyone know what should be measured on secondary wireing of coils? I can't get any information anywhere.
The issue is clearly temperature related and only thing sensitive to this seams to be coils, but why switching the ignition off and on would make a difference?

It eventually dies when stopping on the lights and it is difficult to start like engine wouldn't want to turn, then it suddenly picks up and starts OK just to be jerky again. :banghead

Oh, and when it is hot and I rev it, it hardly can get over 8000 revs on idle like it was struggling for something (spark? fuel?) When you switch it on you can hear the pump working.

Now thinking about i any one knows which sensors are activated when the engin reaches operating temperature? I am thinking maybe ECU is using some standard settings for warm up and only when hot switches sensors on and works out the mixture using "live" information??? then a faulty sensor could cause that...?

You obviously have a meter so check the output from the stator (brown connector) the three wires should give the same reading across any pair.
It sounds like the regulator/rectifier could be playing up, a low battery will give similar symptoms, there are more knowledgeable peeps on here though.

The dash shows charging at 14.4 -14.6 V pretty stable, battery measures 12.6V with ignition off I wil check the output on the rectifier though. Thanks Ash

Yep,check the battery charging voltage.Dont believe the dash voltmeter,....they sometimes lie.
If the bike plays up when cold,it does sound like a sensor issue.Could be a faulty air or water temp sensor.

One of ma mates had a similar problem and it wiz the air temp sensor.

That's what I am counting on Aldo.
I provissionally ordered coils and the sensor. I will be fitting them tomorrow.

Some say it can be caused by interruptions in the fuel flow like dirty filter. My fuel ine is little chaffed on the bend round the rear cilinder. Maybe when it gets hot the fuel expands and flow worsenes...?

Hey, there is happy life again!

After changing plugs, ht leads, coil pack, soldering the white connector it finally turned up to be clogged fuel filter. Replaced it with new one, cleaned the mesh and she rides sweet again!
Thank you all for help!
